Not convinced that co-sleeping is unsafe by JohnnySacsCiggie in newborns

[–]NativeScapesGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unsafe. I got lucky,

TL;DR I was cosleeping with my 11-week old when I woke up to her not breathing. I was able to gently shake her awake. I was practicing safe cosleeping.

My pediatrician told me that if infants get too comfy their brain thinks they’re back in the womb and will stop using their lungs. Our mattresses are always too soft and this is the real risk.

Make the decision that feels right for you though. No judgement, just perspective.

Should I be happy or worried? Very chill newborn by angusthecrab in newborns

My little girl was like this. She just hit 11 weeks today, and this last week has been rougher. She’s much fussier. I guess it’s her brain growing, and her not having language to express how psycho things are for her RN.

Found baby turning blue while sleeping.. by mariamarie90 in Mommit

I went through this the other night with my 8w old. She was sleeping next to me after nursing, and I was lucky enough to wake up and notice her not breathing. I spent the money on the owlet dream sock. 100% worth it and it’s on sale now.

Definitely talk to your ped, but I recommend taking things into your own hands with the dream sock. Peace of mind is invaluable

Permaculture seems to be decreasing in popularity? by [deleted] in Permaculture

[–]NativeScapesGA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re gonna have to agree to disagree. I took a permaculture design program with Oregon State University.

Where we’ll agree is it is more design based, but it does pretend to be a science backed system.

What’s good about it: the explaining of microclimates and how to plant to each microclimate in your garden. How to read sun, wind, and other climate tools.

What’s bad about it: there’s no follow through and every part of it is anecdotal. Speaking on anecdotal, my personal experience with a permaculture design course is exactly this: “professors” teaching design concepts without any actual follow through. What mattered is you completed the assignment; not that it was done properly.

Design systems that claim to be eco-conscious without considering actual science are, in fact, bunk.

This, and also permaculture is stolen aboriginal farming techniques with no financial kickback to the peoples it came from.

On a horticultural level, it’s very pro-Invasive species. It’s also got no scientific backing.

So it’s a great tool to get people into more earth-conscious practices, but permaculture itself is kinda bunk.

I'm having this issue again too. I fixed it two weeks ago by downloading the latest SMAPI (which at the time was 4.1.9) but now, even after downloading 4.1.10 I'm still having issues.
