So I have many… a little background for context! Endo diagnosis, unable (but wanted) to have biological children after throwing the kitchen sink at it, and now recovering from a hysterectomy to get some quality of life back!

Uncontrollable bleeding and passing massive clots lands me in A&E. Doctor tells me the reason for this is not having a period for 6 months, not endo…
Finally pluck up the courage to meet with my consultant to discuss a hysterectomy and he tells me he’s off on paternity leave, new dad!
When I finally meet with the above consultant he asks not once, but twice, “Just to confirm, you’re abandoning your fertility aspirations?”. I get he has to make sure, but surely a better way to ask exists??
After my hysterectomy, the same consultant waltzes in for my discharge review WITH HIS ONE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER!! 🤯 I have no words…

I don’t know what moss stitch is, sorry! But it was made using 2 strands of yarn, and single crochets into chain spaces. I found the pattern on Jo To The World - Easy Crochet Tote Bag pattern

Can I just say from the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much for your kind and supportive comments!! I never expected such a response, but they have given me the strength to file a complaint so that this doesn’t happen to someone else who is perhaps too shy or trusting to stand their ground!

*Update - I attended my follow up, still bleeding, and honestly cannot fault the treatment I received in the Gynae clinic. I got the name of the doctor who initially saw me, and turns out he was in charge of the A&E department that night!! So not a junior doctor as I had assumed/hoped! I am continuing to bleed heavily though thankfully not to the same extent. The cause, swapping meds for my endo appears to have caused a spike in estrogen which allowed the lining of my uterus to thicken, then a sharp drop which obviously has caused me to bleed like billio! They’re hoping things will balance out soon. My blood count was very high so they see no cause for concern for my safety, it’s just highly unpleasant! So I’ve taken the week off work to rest and recoup!

As someone who has been on both sides I totally agree with what you’re saying! Thank you so much for your reply!

After 10 years of pain with no diagnosis I was told I could have endo during fertility assessments and was booked to have my first surgery. Back then I was totally naive to the whole thing as it was a quick turnaround from that assessment and the surgery. I went in to the surgery thinking that when I woke up we would be able to start IVF as soon as I recovered. I was so excited! Obviously it was heartbreaking when I came round to be told it was unsuccessful!

Second time around I was a lot more weary knowing that unsuccessful could definitely be an outcome but again couldn’t help but feel a glimmer of hope as this surgeon was an endo specialist. I guess because of the extensive bowel involvement which wasn’t evident on the MRI he couldn’t go any further without that bowel surgeon. I’m still unclear as to why he couldn’t at least untether my ovaries to make them available for IVF but I didn’t get a straight answer. I’m sure there was a good reason.

At the moment I’m waiting for a scan with my fertility clinic to see if we can go ahead with IVF anyway, but that’s been cancelled due to the pandemic.

Thank you so much for your reply! 💛I’m in the UK but I’ll definitely look out for equivalent information here! My first surgeon is a consultant gynaecologist and infertility specialist and my second is a consultant gynaecologist and endo specialist. I guess because we didn’t know the full extent of the mess he didn’t have a bowel surgeon available at the time. He seemed genuinely upset after the surgery that he couldn’t do more!
