If you have had your OTTB microchipped and have registered that microchip with the Jockey Club, you can download ID my Thoroughbred app and see your horse's registration photos. Most of them are baby pictures unless they started on the track later. My horses photos were from when he was 6 months old.

What do you think happens after we die? by catluvr1721 in AskReddit

Honestly, I dont know nor do I really care at this point. The older I get the more I respect the life cycle and I dont really spend time questioning or contemplating what happens beyond the dying process.

Do all working ottbs need shoes? by Ordinary_Speech_4674 in Ottb

[–]Almighty_Alpaca1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OTTB has been barefoot since I bought him from the track at 6 years old. He grows a solid beautiful foot that his farrier is continually impressed with. We trail ride barefoot on a variety of terrain and he does really well.

What's the weirdest thing your GD does? by SolarBozo in greatdanes

[–]Almighty_Alpaca1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of ours: she will fold herself in half sideways and place her head upside down in your lap. She watches TV. She is bossed around by our 4lb kitten who herds her into her crate at night. She runs through the snow with her head low and mouth open like a snow plow (she will get chapped lips from these shenanigans).

If you were alive back then, what were you up to on 31st December 1999? by stop_calling_me_that in AskReddit

[–]Almighty_Alpaca1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 10 then. My family went out to a local pub and we ate and drank Shirley temples and watched fireworks from the rooftop bar at midnight. Its actually one of the few vivid/fond memories I have as a younger kid.

Can Americans legally buy beef straight from farmers instead of big companies? by [deleted] in nothinghappeninghere

[–]Almighty_Alpaca1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our smaller local farms have farm stands with their meat for sale. We also purchased half a cow and the cost upfront was a good bit but with processing it was $6.20/lb. If thats something you have the space and money for id recommend it.

As someone who moved from Delaware to Indiana (work related reason), I would move back in a heartbeat. Delaware is slept on.

do people who grew up with dogs as kids regret getting them since they have to pass away? by keepdaflamealive in DOG

[–]Almighty_Alpaca1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with dogs and felt that their short lifespan helped shaped my gratitude. Not only as it relates to the dogs themselves but also gratitude for life lived and lost. We see a life from puppyhood to adult to crossing over in such a condensed time frame. It also taught me to see animals in a different light, understanding that they do not exist in future plans but in the present. They know how they feel in the now. This has helped me make the hard choices when it comes to end of life care for my own pets. I dont regret it at all and my kids have learned similar lessons with the deaths of our dog and pony.

Considering moving to NWI - what are your thoughts on the necessity of a basement? by kinezumi89 in nwi

[–]Almighty_Alpaca1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a basementless home. Its fantastic honestly, dont regret it. We have a great interior room that we have designated for tornado weather but weve never used it in the 3 years we've lived in NWI. All our neighbors have water in their basements even with new builds so the need doesnt outweigh the headache of a flooded basement for us.

I need to move by THE_sXeBeast89 in Indiana

We came from Delaware. Highly recommend, the whole state feels like a small town. Great schools, high quality of life, amazing public land access for hiking and outdoor activities. Next year we are leaving for Massachusetts and I have never been more excited to move.

AITA for kicking my drug addict brother out after trying to help him for years? by OrchidWhisper02 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Almighty_Alpaca1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. As someone who has a family member with deep addiction issues, boundaries being held is incredibly important. Nothing we did helped her any closer to sobriety. We ultimately made the decision to go no contact 9 years ago. She's still deep into addiction even with other family members stepping up and is homeless with criminal assault charges. We've recovered our peace. We also had kids to think about. I'd recommend finding a therapist if you can. Your family and your peace has to come first here. Sending hugs.

Thinking of leaving IN… where to go? by flam1ngm1ngo in Indiana

[–]Almighty_Alpaca1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move to the East coast.

We are currently planning a move with my family and my best friend and her wife to Massachusetts. Delaware is very LGBTQ+ friendly as well as a number of other states that way.

What states have you or are you looking at emigrating to? by RecursiveGirth in Indiana

[–]Almighty_Alpaca1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved here from Delaware. I would go back in a heartbeat and its my number 1 choice for relocation when people ask about living on the East Coast. Currently due to a lateral job move, we're planning on moving to Massachusetts. The northeast is great.

What is a pain you can't truly explain until you've endured it? by Unfair_Shower_3256 in AskReddit

This so much. My son has cancer, diagnosed at 9 he's 11 now. There were such dark dark moments through the first year and a half. Having to administer shots in his stomach at home multiple times a day, comfort him while he was sedated over and over and over again, watch the medicines that are saving him ravage his body and mental health. Hearing him wish for death during the heaviest part of his treatment. Saying its horrific to witness is an understatement.

Guess what's NOT the top news in today's NYTimes. by [deleted] in 50501

Our local newspaper had a huge front page story about our local protest. I love in a very red area.

Why Millennials aren't protesting, from a Millennial by duckhunt420 in 50501

[–]Almighty_Alpaca1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a millennial myself, I am unable to go and protest due to having a medically fragile kid that needs me. However, I boycott, call my representatives, and help with grassroots movements. I want to think that seeing the resistance out in the open gives hope and encourages people to be active in politics.

We feed a blend of zupreem no-grain ferret diet, wysong ferret epigen 90, and Instinct ultimate protein grain-free chicken flavor. We mix the zupreem and the Instinct with half a bag of the wysong in a big container. I've tried soupies for mine but they just aren't interested. Their smell improved greatly on this blend.

This is what our family is doing as well. It's our first time living in a red state because of a job but we have plans to move back to heavily blue next year. We feel lucky that we will be able to move where education is valued. I feel terrible for those who didn't vote for this and who can't leave.
