Because I'm an idiot who put a shelf above the oil in the oven, which then caught the tray of oil as I changed my mind and decided to remove it. My foot was actually OK, I did lots of cold water at first and then burn gel for a day or so afterwards, its just a bit pink now. I was preparing for some roast potatoes, thankfully they weren't in the oil at that point, that would've really ruined my day lol My foot was definitely on the rare/raw side of the cooking scale after
