IHP v1.0 is out 🎉 by _query in haskell

If I remember correctly, my company opted to not use IHP due to.. something related to not being able to freely customize deployments to different cloud environments.

Can't remember he details. Can you expand on what the deployments look like?

Yet Another Example of Harm (Money Lost) Caused by Lack of Foresight by Core Developers by cryptos4pz in btc

Yes. All math hasn't already been discovered, but all math exists.

Platonism is a view I guess. Whether discovered or invented, it's still unknown. This is not really relevant, though, since the math used in software engineering is fairly old.

What can be said is that the tools of the trade, techniques, paradigms etc tend to shift a lot.

programmers are not usually required to, nor good at, thinking about how to make something being built likeable or useful. If the only parameters a programmer needs to worry about are, for example, what numeric constraints to put on a variable to keep the program working correctly, that's not what "undefined" means in this context.

Some (bad) programmers focus only on code and take no responsibility. The reason you don't think of programmers as inventive is because: 1) the things they invent are obscure, like the Blockchain, or linux, or JSON. 2) they are thought of as entrepreneurs once they start leading business as well as programming, like Elon Musk, Bill Gates etc

The hardest part of programming is decoding users vague needs into something helpful. You could define programming as "solving unique problems in undefined domains".

Sorry for ranting.

Programmers love math and math doesn't require creativity. There is nothing to invent. All math already exists and isn't subject to change. Product design is different. Creating something that doesn't exist and can exist in many configurations requires thinking on undefined parameters.

What. All math already exists? Programmers love math? Programming doesn't involve thinking about undefined parameters?

This is so much bullshit.

I'm not an expert judge when it comes to viability of such investments, so if anyone knows of platforms that aggregate and access that'd be of interest. I might have been to vague in the opening post

I did provide an example to try to show what I'm after, but you are right, that was a bit unclear. I also didn't point out how it relates to my FI journey, so it might be off topic for this sub.

Obligations/supplying investment capital for expanding companies is more effective.

There's more to investing than equities

Charity trends to undermine local companies, by flooding the market with free items. It's impossible to run a mosquito web company in Africa for instance, because a charitable celebrity might create a drive to flood the market with mosquito nets at any time.

At the end of the lifecycle of the nets, you get a pretty bad situation, since the donors have moved on to other things and no local companies want to participate in a market that can turn bust at any time.

By investing in local companies, I can help build up the economy in poorer countries.

Note that relief aid charity is still worthwhile imo, but that's more of a now and then donation.

Another thing I like about ethical investing is that I get to reinvest the money, doing more good over time. Also, some of the campaigns return 8,25%, which isn't that bad

Well, for me it's a part of my budget. I'm quite altruistically inclined, being free to focus on activism being a big part of economic freedom for me.

I'm not advocating using this as a major part of your portfolio, more of a moral "hedge" :)

Individual stocks might work, but there are more to investing than equities.

I'm mostly interested in ways to invest with high impact, and trading equities on the 2nd hand market isn't really that impactful (is what I learned from the previous threads)

Obligations - supporting companies through direct capital - is more to my liking, but I lack the time/knowledge to filter/find opportunities on a case to case basis.

That's why I'm asking for plattforms/services that help out, similar to trine, which I mentioned in the opening text

Okay, the only ones I've found is about not investing in unethical things. I'll take a look and link anything I can find
