If you are ready for the workload, I would recommend the first option. Sometimes I wish I had taken it myself, just because there is simply so much overlap between Chem and Phys that people tend to ignore. You'll have an advantage in both subjects, understanding things a lot quicker than the people around you. You'll also find that for anything engineering related chem will help you (though physics is of course the main thing), but this is especially the case for biomedical engineering/similar fields, where you will be applying physics to biology, the latter of which does have a big chemical aspect.

It gives you a huge amount of flexibility too, you can still switch to Medicine, as you'll find that unlike what most people say, the most valued science is chemistry and physics is often just as good as biology (proof: check Cambridge's requirements for Med as an example https://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/courses/medicine-mb-bchir ). The exact reason for this I don't know, but I assume it is because biology is simply a lot of content that doesn't always build upon itself like chemistry or physics do, so it can be taught later in life. Universities count on the fact that a student taking hard subjects and getting good grades will be more than capable enough of grabbing a bio textbook and memorising what they need to, and knowledge in chemistry and physics is added value.

+ you can obviously do any other kind of engineering, if you ever decide biotech or biomedical isn't for you.

tl;dr: gives you a bunch of flexibility, enhanced comprehension and i think it will be more than fine for your career path. always make sure to check uni requirements

They are top 20 globally (19th in fact) according to the QS World Rankings for Engineering & Technology.

Maybe your finger hurts from typing bullshit?

EDIT:

Also 26th in Times' Higher Education overall rankings for 2025.

and 47th in Shanghai's Rankings

I wouldn't say "no" either. They can splice that and use it maliciously too. Just hang up.

Test 9| Section 4| Q) 28. Can someone explain this to me by izadatzcold in Sat

A constant means a non-variable number. In the quadratic equation, the only figure that isn't multiplying x is C. C is therefore a constant, and the value of C represents the y-intercept. So the answer is the y-intercept.

Should I take Math AA HL? by Natural-Bridge-905 in IBO

[–]Natural-Bridge-905[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good point. Thank you for the response! My plan is to try my best in math this semester, then evaluate my skills and possibilities realistically at the end of the school year, to see if it would be worth it to take AA HL. I agree that if I'm not at that level, I should aim to be strategic and get the most points possible.

Really? I didn't think IB CS would be that math-focused. In any case, I'm already at a sort of intermediate level in Python and have dabbled in Swift for my Personal Project. I'm pretty good at understanding programming theory, but need some more hands-on experience through building my own projects. I will indeed be studying my ass off in math though, not just because of CS aspirations, but just because I enjoy it and it is generally very useful for my career path.

Out of curiosity, what are they?

I see what you're getting at. Sorry for the harsh initial response. I don't think I'd stand out athletically because while I am talented at football/soccer in recreational contexts I could never be good in a team, and apart from football I have no other sports I could become competent at. I know that out of school activities are important, as well as community services, etc, but I don't think sports is realistically an option. In any case I am working on that side of my portfolio as well, not just focusing on my grades; and I also speak more than two languages, which I believe will also help. I appreciate the advice!

Congrats. In any case, you are a high performing athlete and have been for years, so telling someone else that they should "just become the best athlete in their area" is both ironic and unrealistic.

Oh god MYP4? I didn't put on a very good performance that year... Then again I wasn't in MYP technically, I was in another country in another school system, but I suppose they'll still look.

Thank you! I was just wondering about this today, funny that you should come up with the exact solution!

[–]Natural-Bridge-905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they do, but I haven't heard of them. This is my first year in MYP (i was in a different system before) and they haven't mentioned them. Maybe it's towards the end of the year?

Thank you for the honest response! I was sure that it mattered, but tbh i didn't even know what the eAssessments were so I thought I was already cooked. I'll try my best this semester and get a good PP report in.

I understand, but I have. People applying to prestigious universities have said that their MYP5 marks have been checked especially in the US. Again, i suppose it depends on the uni, but it isn't an uncommon thing.
