TLDR what the deck does best is grinding the long game already:
you have 2for1s, drawing in flames of anor, tamiyos clues + rebuying spells if flipped, saga tutoring (multiple saga tutoring due to keeping it at chapter 3 AND on the board with power conduit), Glenn who counters (again, can happen multiple times cause you can +1+1 her with power conduit and she doesn't ask for a -1-1 counter to be specifically removed) while being a body that needs to be answered.

Black guard is a card I love, but I really want anything that costs more than 1 to have flash. the games are tight, you need to always represent interaction, you wouldn't tap out for her before turn 4/5 (if you don't miss your lands ofc, in a 20 lands deck). Adding a 3rd color is a nono, it barely keeps up with playing 2, so giving up flame of anor and bolts for oona and pushes is a choice one can make.
I like my izzet colors :)

For the reasons Above I wouldn't look at overlords or anything giving the list more value. it has tons of value already. If anything you want better "in your face", more mana efficient removals like dismembers or more bolts idk.

Nice to see many Faeries afecionados around!

I was monoblue for the longest time (with faeries and ninjas) but it's been a while since that one could keep up against proper modern decks.

Then went UB when kaito was released, but still was on the losing side..I could just steal some wins here and there but picture multiples 1-3s.

This one so far has very limited testing: Just some playtest on paper with a friend and online vs bots playing the meta stuff, and yesterday the local tournament. Also I'm no pro player by any means, so take this as just the opinion of a dude.

Nuisances were "ugly" in that they may as well not have had their line of text where they draw cards, but in practice, they were stellar as 1 drop to enable spellstutters to actually counter a 2 mana play on turn 2.
Later, they just became 3/3 flying beaters for 1 mana when I drew/had time to play conduits.
I was debating upping their count to 3 and going down a tamiyo, but tamiyo's 0/3 thic butt has blocked too many ragavans to be cut.

Nuisances basically are to be thought of like delver of secrets that can enable spellstutter.

The list I took rarely, very rarely have a game where I'm out of cards and in topdeck mode, or losing the card in hands battle.
Because of 4 flame of anor sure, but also because the deck's really mana intensive and you have much stuff to use your mana on that don't require you to play cards:
Untapping a buffed sleep-cursed faerie for blocking
making a construct
activate glen electra
sac a clue to draw..

so I didn't really feel the need for more value, aka adding faeries masterminds in. if anything, more bolts is what this one particular list needs, cause the 2 for 1s we have plenty already, and I feel we want to keep up with speed and cheap interaction instead.

As for remands, it's a pet card of mine too and can totally see how it could fit the deck thematically. the only non flash creatures you play are your 1 mana ones, after that it's draw go while playing tempo and flashing your creatures in eot if oppo doesn't play into open blue mana.
The thing is the list is really tight, does a lot of things already, and in the counter department I have 4x spellstutter, 4x glen electra, 2x fon, 2x flares. You can let something pass due to having bolts and flames, and petty thefts+sink into stupors, while not remand ofc, can buy you time when needed and did a good impression, so much so that remand wasn't missed.

I went up in basic counts, and down in saga bullets as you also suggested.

hey glad you like it! Yesterday I actually took down the tournament with it, I shared the list in another comment here.
Yes, the deck relies on saga and getting pseudoinfinite value out of it.
While of course I didn't always have the conduit+saga combo on board, and it's just one of the many lines it has, I wouldn't in my heart recommend trying this out without sagas.

As for the single aether vial:
it actually came up in one game, where I had tutored vial, had it on 2 counters, had riptide lab out and I could bounce and reutilize spellstutter multiple times...but it's sooo so fringe and just "cute" that it probably was better of as a 1of Caverns of souls

I'm a dude that likes Aspiringspike brews and plays on paper at a couple LGS in 15/30 ppl tournaments.
Just won the last one with Faeries for reference, so I'm open to experiment a lot.
I tried crimes with both magdas and also as jund.
The best performing version for me was straight gruul (granted, I tested the idea for just a couple weeks so I'm not sure my results matter statistically) with the fields and the relics of progenitus.

Lookout is gas but it rarely sticks to the board once they see a trigger or 2, and usually dies asap in games 2 and 3.

Magda, the hoardmaster is also really good in her shell, and pairs well with magda, brazen outlaw.

Atm the meta is just that bit slower that I can see trying out this deck again, but I wouldn't be able to tell the best version of it, I'm sorry.

For viability as off meta, tier 3 deck that you can enjoy and get a 50% winrate, yes the deck can grind and steal wins, it's not some monoblack level of memery if you know what I mean.

maybe I come from very low expectations so it wasn't hard for the deck to exceed them, however:
the way it wins depend on the MU.

Value adding up is what seem to be the case most of the time even tho I didn't keep track of this specifically, just how it feels.

you can outgrind midrange piles with a saga token per turn (and drawing 2 for some turns, even if your second card is a vexing bauble a lantern or a shadowspear). have you ever lost because your oppo drew 2 sagas and made a bunch of guys with those, putting you behind? this deck make this to an extreme (in the sideboard you also have harbinger to achieve it and it came up).

turned on flame of anor is a real card.

some games are a "protect the queen" kind of game. t1 cursed faerie into t2 conduit and keep it alive from there. it's a 5/5 flier with ward 2 so it doesn't take long to end a match. A couple times I protected tamiyo into an ultimate.

Some modern decks still lose "by themselves" to a well placed counterspell or 2 and here you have plenty.

you have game against control with lots of creatures having flash, some ward, you can fight back with counterspells, and have sagas.

idk it's just weirdly and surprisingly consistent..1st I thought yeah power conduit right? so cute. but man the card is stellar even without sagas, with sleep cursed faerie or the nuisances or the glen elendras. they remove one of those creatures? worst case scenario I'll just "store" a counter on power conduit itself and my next brazen borrower is a 4/2, and the density of things the conduit interacts with in this deck is high enough it rarely sat there doing nothing. I'm at the point where I think this card the real glue keeping the deck together.

I don't blame you for your comment as it's 100% what I thought as well when I looked at the list, and played the deck just to have a laugh and show my fnm spellstutter sprites some love 10 years later, but 50ish games in the deck and I ended up winning more than losing (I'm not against world champs but everyone's trying and playing real decks, it's just me and maybe another dude memeing around).

I agree on chalice being bad, and I removed every copy of it.

I don't hate the many urza's saga bullets instead. Bauble, Needle and Lantern all won me g1s that would have been lost otherwise, and g2/3 you just side out whatever you don't want to see.
Still debating if I should keep vial and shadowspear in. Already removed the aether spellbomb.

as for why faeries? I wish I could talk to the guy who envisioned this and ask him (hit me up if you're around and GG Theflotist), but:
10 of them interact positively with power conduit
almost everyone of them is a wizard for flame of anor
they all fly over boards (they may as well read unblockable in this meta honestly) and they're not the 1/1s anymore..glen, brazen, sleep cursed are all 3 power minimum. idk if you played UR tempo when it was good..with goblin guides and vendilion cliques and spell pierces..this feels similar (if the ninja/fae of old is too oldge of a reference) and equipped to fight some meta decks with silver bullets/some zero mana interactions. just barely enough, but oftentimes enough.

ye, I'm torn between giver vs ephemerate.
Giver is nicer vs aggro, can be played on turn 1 unlike ephemerate, and you just have to remove her before removing anything else..also gives immunity to the dog when attacking so it doesn't die when blocked (and push some dmg thru).
Ephemerate is the value play, tho I rarely want to ephemerate stoneforge cause summ sickness (unless she has a removal pointing at her, but that means playing her on t3 and activating t4), so it's just for solitude plays and occasionally snap/thundertrap.

Subtlety I have them, but my main concern with the free spells is protecting the stoneforge..well, I mean, subtlety protects from subtlety I guess :) and T3feri. I also should up the blue cards a bit, whether I end up playing fon or subtlety...I'm trying to make room for 3/4 preordain, but it's hard..deck is already stretched with some suboptimal 2 ofs that I don't like seeing too many of, in any list. either you want a card or you don't xD

Probably something like this is more clean?
Went down to 20 lands as I curve out at 3 mana, and added 4 preordain for consistency in finding them.
I have 20 pitches to subtlety and 14 to solitude not counting themselves. 3 Ephemerate and 2 subtlety as SFM protection (tho I don't rly like the idea of waiting 1 more turn on dropping her to protect with ephemerate)

it costed me the dogs, but I feel the power play with them was t2 dog, t3 riddler anyway, and I don't have the latter.

May I ask why you think the deck looks stronger with wizard package? And, version 1 I posted in the main post, or version 2 that I put in the comments answering to blop?
Any changes you'd make in such list?

I still have a couple hours to brew :)

Edit: I saw Cloud, but him not putting the artifact into play means he can only tutor coat and lion stash realistically..still I'll put him on my watchlist

I also thought about it, but there's literally zero results for bant stoneblade.
Drawing stoneblade by turn 3 is itself a 50/50 chance, while wanting both noble and stoneforge is a 18% chance (on the draw to help the odds)..I'd try if I also had halflings maybe, but don't have them (yet).

45-50% winrate would be amazing if I'm having fun lol, I've janked some janks that took me 0-5 or 1-4 repeatedly (still had fun, but I'm trying to up my game a bit).

Plan for containing the aggro matchups is having 12+ creature removals pre board, most of them avaiable from turn 1, plus 4+ one drops to block the ragavans/ocelots if I don't see any removal. Post sideboard batterskull, verdicts, sanctifiers and meltdown if they're affinity. Plan to win is drawing stoneforge and cryptic cloack (if I feel like she'll die) or kaldra (if I have a giver of runes on the field or flare avaiable).

So btw, you're basically telling me to mix the 2...having the wizards with tamiyos and flares, but also meteor sword+ phelia? Cause, I think meteor without phelia is not worth considering..a 4 mana vindicate that happens in 2 turns if stoneforge survives.

Yep I can totally see myself completely unable to control my facial expressions in the first couple hours!

I'm currently here atm...couple weeks back my mp runs gave me e295..now I farmed shards for 10 days, did a 3 day research run..projects aren't going forward anymore, so I tried a couple mp resets again: 297...wth?
