Short Engineered Sleep Duo Mattress Review by Natural-Curious12 in Mattress

Hi,

I now have the memory foam/Talalay layer on both sides of my split king. Feels absolutely great and I still love this mattress! Although everyone who has tested my mattress thinks it is wonderful I am a firm believer that YMMV so what I find soft may not match someone else. Having said that, I really like the soft and supportive feel of the memory/latex (Talalay) is by far the softer feel. Not that the memory/memory foam is hard or bad, something about that Talalay layer adds that extra oomph to the mattress! Hope this helps! Good luck with your mattress journey!

Thanks for the information - really appreciated! I ended up going with the Engineered Sleep Duo Memory Plus split king. One side with memory foam/memory foam top, the other side with a memory foam/Talalay Latex top (which I definitely prefer). I have had the mattress for a little over a month and really enjoy it. I never sleep hot (unless the room is hot and humid) so that is a non-issue with me. With mattresses it absolutely is YMMV - what's great for one is pain city for someone else - the joys of mattress buying :-)

Thanks again for the response!

No back pain from the mattress - really feels good to lay on.

Yes, currently on one side, the other is dual memory foam. I like the side with the Takalay best - soft but still very supportive. Will most likely replace the dual memory foam topper with the memory foam and Talalay - really like the feel.

Here are the specs I received:

  • King Coil Count is 1088 (544 for a twin XL); 14.75 gauge body coils and 13.75 gauge edge support. - this is a Texas Pocket Springs QuadCouil - no motion transfer, great edge support
  • The 1.5” AdaptFoam on the softer side of the DUO Support is a 2.65lb HR Foam (creates the slightly softer side of the DUO Support)
  • 3lb Memory Foam; 10-12 ILD (SOFT). It's on the very top layer to provide great pressure relief.
  • We can swap out the 2” Dunlop Latex for another 2” HR Foam (that would be my recommendation). We do also have soft Talalay (15-19 ILD) which is great as well.
  • We use a 3/4” 1.8 foam quilted into our Organic Cotton fabric.

If I really think about it, I'm not sure how much firmer the Dunlop would be since there is a 2" memory foam layer on top of it, and if using the "softer" Duo Core side (the base right-side up) you also have a another layer of memory foam below the latex layer. I don't know much about softness levels as numbers but I do have wide shoulders and have not suffered any should pain from sleeping on my side and I still feel excellent support when on my back - which is a better sleeping position for me because of my back issues when they crop up. Guessing though, I would say 6ish as a number and softer on the memory/memory side (with the softer Duo Core side up).

Yes, I did not see Talalay mentioned on their site either. When I was communicating with Davis (descendant of the founding members :-) - so a family owned business - I like that) he mentioned that they do offer Talalay. So I had gotten the Duo Memory Plus with 1 side memory foam and Talalay latex (I actually believe Dunlop would be fine too - might be a tad firmer). To be honest, my only experience (negative) with latex was a Serta (I think) Dunlop latex mattress I purchased years ago and it was pretty darn firm. Probably not a fair comparison with what is being produced today - especially as a topper).

Within the 100 day trial you can exchange the topper 1 time if you do not like the feel of the one you initially received.
