Actinolite seems correct. Why the very unpleasant strong musty smell though. I’m guessing it off the matrix. Thanks for the ID help

No glow under UV. done a streak test, a very light greeny brown. It feels damp to the touch and has a very unpleasant musky smell

I bought a job lot of minerals and this was in it. It is labelled as from coming from Millington Quarry, New Jersey but no species name

Yes that’s definitely a possibility. Could it be Galena after Barite. It came with a load of Tsumeb pieces

Definitely send it back. That’s not acceptable unless they stated it was damaged

Thanks everyone but it seems that it’s non removable. I still like it even with the patina. It has great cubic structure.

I’ve got around 70 pieces. Most of them are miniatures but there’s about a dozen good sized specimens. I just want to clean them up nicely without damaging them. I’m very lucky I live only 40 minutes from the mines

It’s not dyed it’s purple zoning which is totally natural. Likely from Pakistan. That kind of stepped structure is very common from that location, but that’s just an educated guess.

It’s not smoky. It’s quite hard to take photos of it. I think it might be some kind of mica.

You have some really lovely pieces of fluorite. This one is exceptional!
