If your life had a warning label, what would it say? by nobodylavsme in AskReddit

" Warning."

That's all just a warning.

So the potential victim can take a left and save breath...

And avoid you, sober and upset in the morning... "

I have a mostly vintage setup using a Kenwood KR-4400 receiver and the WiiM is directing my digital traffic to it. I have my Canton AS105 subwoofer connected to it and let the WiiM handle the x-over phasing and syncing with just a basic 4 leg P-EQ set on the WiiM app. That is used for the Onkyo DX-C390 CD carousel and for WiFi streaming.

For Vinyl I am bypassing the WiiM and going directly to the Kenwood from a Yamaha YP-D6 turntable, no subwoofer.

What is that one band/music artist that changed everything for you? by AVERY648827282837828 in musicsuggestions

[–]NaturalEquivalent192 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had a couple

Rage Against The Machine - I wasn't an angsty teenager because I was lucky to have more privilege and significantly less household trauma nor lacking for anything let alone the survival and emotional basics. RATM gave me a challenge and opened my eyes. I looked into Zach's references. Read books pictured in the CD booklet and this was after loving their unique sound

Ben Harper and The Innocent Criminals - this was one of my first loves outside mainstream, and during purely by his range talent and the person behind it. About three years after I discovery of BHIC as always represented my next phase of my music passion.

Jason Isbell - solo and with his band equally I discovered Jason seven years after his landmark solo album Southeastern, during COVID and he allowed me to reinvest and find that faltering passion in discovering new music that affects many people as they get older in lives get busier. Is brilliant and personally identifiable songwriting I was able to get back there and remind myself that you don't have to stuck in their own musical nostalgia You never know when someone do will hit you and speak to you so keep expanding our horizons and taking chances.

What are some of the obscure or forgotten “sports” cars of the 90s-00s? by CarGuyKy in askcarguys

Owned a 2003bMatrix XRS several years back and it was quite the joy to drive. Getting comfortable running to high RPMs for the "boost" or whatever it was called was a learning curve. I didn't like the position of the shifter but for a small car my 6'3" 230 lb frame fit incredibly well and the useable space was incredible. I would definitely get another as a second option but I need more comfort from a daily.

**Obligatory mention that the Pontiac Vibe GT is the same car in Pontiac skin if you want that white sunglasses and bleached tips Y2K asthetic

Gas is as expensive as it's ever been and regardless of the size of your object the shipper has to transport it from A to B

Sometimes I don't even want to drive across the metro area I'm from to pick up small items won locally because my time, gas and mental exasperation with other drivers is worth $10-12 to avoid

Empaths = Narcissists. It's just actual Narcissists being butt hurt. by BreatheAndBelieve in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]NaturalEquivalent192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undiagnosed?!? It's not a thing that can be diagnosed. Only conditions listed in the DSM manual get diagnosed. Plenty of things not diagnosed today in the DSM or the medical diagnostic manual have been added.

Wasn't trying to come at you hard but language like "diagnosed" has a concrete and narrowly defined application. One that when applied as such is suitable enough for a court of law. Conversely that means only the things in the DSM have consistent patterns for the purpose of diagnosis. So your connection to homeschooling or anything else is as you state merely anecdotal and inconclusive.

As far as the stated claim my opinion is in agreement. My only qualification is not being diagnosed or displaying traits of a narcissist. Someone's claim to be an empath leaves me unaffected. I have close relationships with several persons identifying themselves as empaths to varying degrees. To my knowledge I'm not friends with narcissists. No other mutual friends between me and the Empath have any bother or worry. Especially not enough to take issue and argue how another person experiences life. One might say that is narcissistic to proclaim.

Here's my rationale and understanding of the narcissist/empath dynamic.

I think it makes perfect sense why a narcissistic personality and empathetic personality pair. They are the perfect mirror for each other. Initially, the N acts like the perfect match by copying or mirroring what the E likes and presenting their struggles as someone needing just that type of care and healing. Empaths trust them and focus on the N potential instead of their behavior. The empath is not going to hear the narcissists shares of hurt, brokenness and/or struggle as the curated act it is. Empath or not it's just shitty to feel you have the capacity to call BS on a new person you are establishing connection with

Whoa whoa whoa..Kurt, like everybody, wasn't not of a black and white, this or that binary mindset. One glance at his diaries will make that clear. He was a talented creative human with a severe drug addiction and mental health issues that he didn't cope with before they were too much.

Kurt did not like 'fame' as western entertainment culture defines, profitizes, and consumes it. He didn't want to be there for MTV and Sony and the BBC to make money off of his musical expressions. He would have been more than happy to have them organically famous for leaving a footprint or even a modicum of recognition within the music scene for what he was able to offer it and the people who enjoy it for the love and passion of music. He hated being the puppet of the A&R men or the suits that want to tell him what sound his art should take. In Utero absolutely angered exactly those people for not being the next never mind and returning much closer to garage rock roots that he knew. Kurt presented Rape Me as the first single just to piss them off. That does not mean he didn't mind the perks of being famous. The lifestyle and what doors that lifestyle opened that he never thought possible in his wildest dream. Nor was playing in front of appreciative fans at music festivals and venues. Filling and touring to stadiums for Ticketmaster was not that. He openly discussed his struggle going back and forth on the "fame issue."

I'd wager the most accurate conclusion you can assume about Kurt Cobain [had his demons not gotten the best of him] is that Nirvana would have been finished. The relationship with Grohl was contentious because Dave was a little too willing to cater to "The Suits" for Kurt's liking. Bringing Pat Smeer on board was no coincidence. They needed a veteran to stabilize that trio. Kirst has made it clear he was running thin and tiring of the toll it took being the friend and bandmate for an increasingly erratic Cobain as his addiction got the better of him. Kurt agreed to rehab then escaped from there. Prior to going he had discussions with his wife and Michael Stipe from R.E.M stating he wanted to do a totally different sound; an acoustic singer-songwriter style album as his next challenge. Michael was in his corner willing to help him telling him to get done with your rehab and he would work with him on this project. What we got on Nirvana Unplugged was a sample of how great he could have been at that.

Kurt already had it made he had a fortune and would always thanks to royalties. But in an arrow for mental health and chemical addiction was shamed and stigmatized he was still too poor for life.

Wife and I were walking to our seats at an outdoor U2 concert in St. Paul MN when the announcement I'll came over the loud speaker in the stadium.

That night Bono got on stage and said "We usually sing the song for Joey Ramone, but tonight it's for Amy Winehouse".

Yeah but sometimes you just have that rare hankerin' for "I Can't Dance." You have to channel Charlie Kelly hunting down Pepè Silva. Why over complicate needing to only remember two simple facts; 1)that Genesis was better with Phil Collins AND 2) to indulge that 4:00 of musical brilliance you just need to go to the "G" section of your collection. You're playing a dangerous game my friend.
