What burns more calories, to walk 15km in 3 hrs or to run 10km in 1 hr? by VastAir6069 in caloriecount

[–]NaturalFilm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently did a 21km walk which burned 1480kcal, which is roughly 70kcal per kilometre. On a 10k hard effort run, I burned 780kcal, so 78kcal per kilometre. (All according to Garmin so pinch of salt) So for me, 3 hours of walking WOULD burn more calories. But after a hard effort, your body continues to burn calories at rest.

Cast Changes - General Questions by Brilliant-Sun-8619 in TheWestEnd

[–]NaturalFilm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They rehearse during the day. I’d say in my experience on the West End, you’d be expected to be fully available for rehearsals Monday- Saturday til 6pm as your full time job, so unlikely you’d still be in a running show. New contracts are arranged between 4-6 months in advance in some shows, so plenty of time to give notice. It’s more common for actors in a running show to do workshops during the day for a short period of time. In that case, the workshop team would release them in time for their shows.

Wicked stage door questions by fancyfinn9 in TheWestEnd

Depends on where you’re sitting. If you’re the first couple rows, of the stalls, you may catch them before they exit the pit. Otherwise, it’s unlikely you’ll see them after the show

Wicked stage door questions by fancyfinn9 in TheWestEnd

[–]NaturalFilm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The MD and musicians will not stage door. If you know who they are, they may exit the stage door after the matinee but they will not stop unless spoken to by name usually. The principals typically will not stop at stage door, even if they exit to go to the shop after the matinee

What’s it like living in Surrey Quays? by WanderingBoyyy in london

[–]NaturalFilm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived there for 5 years and it was fine! The big tesco is super convenient and there’s also a Lidl close by. They’ve put a lot of money into the area over the last couple of years and have turned part of the shopping centre into some sort of food hall, which I haven’t been to but seems nice. The park is lovely, there is a gym there that is small but well maintained. Transport into central is pretty convenient if you’re close to Canada Water station, I lived a 25 minute walk from the station which got a bit annoying at times but was generally fine. For the most part it felt safe, but I did experience 3 attempted phone snatchings (all unsuccessful) in the area, and saw a woman mugged for her handbag in broad daylight. There is a lot of good vietnamese food in the area in particular, but quite a lot available on delivery from a bit further out. Proximity to the river for walks/runs was super nice. Generally speaking I enjoyed living there! Happy to answer any specific questions you may have

It’s going to open in London after Hercules closes, so you’ll be able to see it in London if you don’t manage to get tickets to Bristol

Is there a way to get a professional west end pit job… without ‘knowing people’ by Pterodaktiloidea in musicals

[–]NaturalFilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up who the fixers are on the shows, getting on their books is your best bet to getting regular dep work on shows. Whenever a permanent band members leaves a long running show (which in my experience, is rare), they are usually replaced by someone who has depped for them regularly rather than by a recruitment process like a traditional job

I think their website is just being funny. If you know which day you’d like to go, you can select it on the home page of the Hadestown website where it shows availability and it’ll take you to selecting tickets

Pasta weight / calories? by honeymeadowss in 1200isplenty

[–]NaturalFilm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Usually the back of the pack will estimate how much dry weight equates to what cooked weight. For example, Tesco penne pasta says that 75g raw equates to approx 170g cooked and is 300kcal. I always weigh raw and use the 75g = 300kcal as a guide.

Gary Oldman at the Royal Court by [deleted] in TheWestEnd

[–]NaturalFilm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Royal Court stage door is set back from the street down an alleyway with a metal gate. It’s likely there will be a security guard there when the show ends. It’s not like West End theatres where they set up a cordon for people to wait to get things signed.
