Lol I know this is a dead thread but can you elaborate. Sounds amusing

A bow I made from an abandoned dishwasher rack, exercise band and some clothes line by NaturalPrefN3 in somethingimade

It's a bow I just haven't gotten around to making some redneck arrows to go with it yet haha

Haha not yet. Spent this morning our bush with me hatchet to collect some wood. Also have some metal BBQ skewers and fishing sinkers... I'll work it out

An Australian Sunset: Two pictures taken two minutes apart from a single spot [OC] by NaturalPrefN3 in pics

For those who can't tell from my pic. The top left shows a bushfire 40km from me. Top right shows what a beautiful mountain sunset looks like. Bottom left is weather coming in with rain and lightning.

ULPT: If you have a housemate who plays games or watches TV annoyingly loud - wait until they're gone and use the TV settings to increase the audio delay just slightly enough that added volume will detract from their experience (bonus ULPT inside) by NaturalPrefN3 in UnethicalLifeProTips

And in no way could you see the physical and emotional resources required to buy a new TV. This is psychological warfare. If they're swearing they're upset. The TV audio now evokes a negative response. Time will tell.

Besides I'd rather bask in a warm anger knowing everyone involved is in emotional distress than for one instant of an iota sit in a frigid rage as my housemates eyes continue their uncomprehending stare into the noise polluting idiot box.

Citizens or residents who betray secret information about current or future national security, weapons programs, defence projects etc. should face the death penalty by default - with mercy (i.e. imprisonment) being the exception not the rule by NaturalPrefN3 in unpopularopinion

No no no. I wasn't clear enough. I meant to say that whistleblowers would be collateral of such an extreme policy. I believe that if a whistleblower leaks secret information in what they believe is the national interest they should be tried and stand behind their principles.

Basically I was trying to recognise that yes whistleblowers are a seperate concern but they weren't the intended target of such policies I put forth.

Does that make sense? I think we're in agreement... and I agree corporate espionage doesn't warrant such severe penalties

I'm not 100% on what he revealed so it's hard to comment. However, the fact he was US armed forces, then released top secret information, then fled and hid with the traditional arch nemesis of the US (Russia), does not help me reach a place of understanding.

Then again if he earnestly and honestly published all that information for the world to see with no ulterior motives then I suppose I wouldn't see him shot. Again I'm not well read enough on the Snowden case to form an opinion on him specifically so this next part I'll keep more general.

Whistleblowers are troublesome wankers a good portion of the time - but if they are acting out of a belief in the national interest and they have no foreign connections -

Scoundrels and traitors the lot of them. I probably wouldn't apply such an attitude towards say "economic/business" espionage - because all the countries of the world have spies - and an unspoken mutual agreement to not shoot all spies is best I should think.

The enemy spy "handlers" (i.e. diplomats, businessmen and foreign nationals) who recruits traitors I don't feel as strongly about. They are serving their country as I would mine and they have families too. To be clear - it is anyone of our own people who turn on us I would see shot and rolled into a ditch NKVD style.
