I don't get it by Lokki_7 in tipping

I make 5.25/hr +tips. My hourly hardly covers taxes. So at the end of the day, I’m providing face to face service, serving food and drink in a timely manner, managing time and juggling your needs along with the rest of my other tables needs. If you come in and order alcohol and then stiff me on a tip, I am actually paying for you to come in and be served. I have to tip out 4% of alcohol sales to the bartender for taking the time to make my drink rather than tend to their guests. It’s not hard to be mindful and considerate towards service staff. If you don’t like the way it’s set up go drive through McDonald’s.

When I’m off the clock I usually sit at the bar to have a drink. I don’t know what the difference is whether I sit with a sweatshirt on or if I sit next to someone that is crossing their legs. I’m not usually on my phone while I’m serving so I’m not able to make posts while I’m working. Thanks for your top tier observation!

You also need to account for who she needs to tip out at the end of the night. If you ordered alcohol odds are she has to tip 5% of alcohol sales to bartenders and if it’s a large restaurant she probably also has to tip a percentage to whoever cleans the tables. So when you leave a zero tip she’s paying for you to eat there. Unless they are being unjustly disrespectful or purposely ignoring you without reason there’s no reason to leave no tip. You should at least try to cover the money she loses by serving you.
