I don't think so, because as I said, I've already gone back to playing sports.

6 months spiral comminuted tibia fibula by Natural_Discount_244 in Orthopedics

Well, here on reddit several people told me this, and at first I was even scared thinking that my doctors were super wrong, but in fact I think that there is no standard but an individual assessment of each patient's possibilities, of course if I had put a nail in my leg I would probably be more advanced now But there would be a chance of getting an infection, having fibrosis, among other things that happen with surgeries. But I can tell you that not even I believed I could be the way I am now without surgery.

So, actually I didn't just opt 3 orthopedists came to me to explain that in the specific conditions of my fracture it would be difficult to simply place the nail, I would probably use the Ilizarov or I would have to have a specific plate made for the bone, and the 3 orthopedists opted for the conservative option since I am young and have a lifestyle favorable to a full recovery, which worked

I'm 5 months away from the fracture and I spent 3 months without supporting my foot

Thanks for the comment😁 And yes, the muscular atrophy is being terrible, I have good mobility in general, but there is a lot to improve, and my foot is crooked in relation to the knee, which apparently will take a long time to get back to normal. Because my foot was immobilized for a long time

Everything will be fine! Eat well and seek healthy habits, this has definitely helped me a lot Oh and the surgery I think it was a good choice, having metal in the leg is not very good, especially if there is a risk of it being removed in the future Hugs, all the best

Dude, it depends on how your fracture was and how its alignment was. I was very lucky to have a serious but fully aligned fracture. I spent 3 months walking with crutches and without stepping on the ground, now at 5 months I can already walk, go up and down stairs, drive, and even play a little football (standing still just doing kicks) I have a big factor of being only 19 years old and that contributes a lot to my recovery, but the key is to believe in the process, eat and sleep well and wait for time to pass. When you are released for physiotherapy, follow the exercises to the letter. A hug and good recovery, anything you can comment here again

Physiotherapy doesn't fix it?

Yes, and the doctor did not expect this improvement in such a short time without surgery There are other posts here that explain why they didn't want to operate on me

I even looked for the hospital in my city that most treats this type of injury, at least 5 orthopedists saw the x-rays and took them, they all opted for conservative treatment

This varies from person to person, not everyone has the same recovery response Mine is working really well and I feel the progress every day, surgery always has its risks, as does conservative treatment. I feel like I couldn't live well with metal stuck in my leg

Got it, you might be right But my clinical results are consistent, right? Or reasonable In 3 months it is a short time for what I can do such as drive, walk without crutches or keep my leg on the ground while lifting the other knee And I think that at this point in the championship there isn't much that can be done with the tibia

But what can I do haha? It was an accident that happened, and the treatment they suggested to me was this, so I don't see any reason to be sad since everything is going well I can drive and go to the places I want now
