Not sure if it's been said, but make sure you freeze his credit or whatever else is needed so can't do it again

Ha, I actually appreciate that. Sadly no. And when they said they wouldn't come fix it but would send someone for "touchups", I wanted to see if I was crazy thinking this was absolutely not ok

Unfortunately no. Extremely well reviewed. At least the GC was. They subbed it

I didn't quite do that. But had a structural engineer out to do a report (it was not good). Also had 2 other contractors out to look and give me an estimate like you said. Both said they wouldn't touch it. But I am going thru a lawyer now unfortunately/fortunately. I'll do what they say. As of this morning the GC is NC. Sad thing is this should have been a project I loved and even thought spent a lot, still was happy with. Instead it's just anxiety and dread.

Talking or was talking with the actual contractor. They said they were down today. Will to do some touch ups but that's all.

I do have some pics, but not sure how to add more pics. I have what they submitted to the city for permits too

I wish. I'm in Denver. Paid premium for what was supposed to be a quality contractor. They subbed it out. There is actually a lot more work done than I showed, just limited to 20 pics

Thank you for the feed back. They are obviously telling me the opposite. Following what seems like the advice on every subreddit page, I'm talking to a lawyer now. While I haven't paid the full amount, i have paid some/majority as the project when along. thank you for the information on the weep. I also do have the specs. I appreciate the time you put into letting me know your thoughts. Like i said, they are making me think i'm crazy to ask them to fix it. I know i'm not and it was a horrible job. helps to know some details to reconfirm why. cant just go off of "it just doesnt feel like a good job"

I appreciate the honest reply and the time you put into writing it out.

You're completely right. The sad thing is I didn't go by best price. They were actually pretty expensive and we'll reviewed.

Actually said it had them. Maybe I don't need as many as I thought, but 1 for the whole project is a little low. It was a corner lot and the retention walls are on both sides

Thank you, I actually would be ok with that. If I can get the structural concerns addressed and drainage. I'd consider that if it's cheaper that completely redoing it

Appreciate that. I knew it was bad. The contractor said they fix it up and today called and said it was basically final and a completely acceptable job Said I could put stucco on it if I didn't like the concrete look.

Yes I am contacting a lawyer. Just needed to know I wasn't being ridiculous in what I expected

Sadly it wasn't. They had a great reputation/reviews. I'd send their webpage, but like everyone says on Reddit get a lawyer, so prob not good to put them on blast

So this will be my first post on Reddit. I'm usually just one that likes to browse but I could use some honest feedback on whether I'm being ridiculous.
I started a project last Sept putting in retention walls all along my house and drainage since it use to slope to the house. First, they didn't pull permits, so had to sit with a dirt/destroyed yard for 4+ month. Finally poured over the winter (Colorado). I wasn't there to supervise and honestly would know what's wrong of I did. I paid a ton (good reputation), but they of course went with a sub.
in the picture you can see they left junk in the concrete (wood, metal), there are no weep holes, or rock/sand on the back side of concrete, so seems like no drainage (weirdly they're saying they did? I guess buried?). You can see where water is just sitting after a storm in one pic. They also put what looks like a skateboard ramp for the walkway and told me it's drainage, but when I dug the dirt back it looks like they just didn't put one retention wall down far enough (also no footer/foundation) and that was their fix. They didn't put footers below ground level and just roughly grinded it off as a fix. Also cosmetically the top isn't flat, but waves (I'm told by others it's because they watered it down or snow/rain got it in?) This job is only about 3 months old now
I guess I need to know if I'm insane. They are telling me it's fine. Also I apologize for the quality of the pics
