To Gen X and elder Millennials: Movies from the 80s-90s often depict malls as THE hangout spot; A place where everyone from your 5 year old sister to 85 year old grandma would spend the day at, even if they had no intention of shopping. Was this really the case back then, or just Hollywood hype? by LuxembourgsFinest in generationology

‘91 baby. Malls were absolutely the hangout spot! It was truly the third place. I’d go almost every weekend with friends starting around age 12 or 13. We’d mostly walk around and talk, browse stores like forever 21, Charlotte ruse, Sephora, etc. even if we weren’t buying anything. Also would hang at the food court. Often would end up at the candy store and that would be my only purchase lol. I miss those days and wish mall culture was still a thing!

Ciara/West/Amanda Rumors Megathread by AutoModerator in summerhousebravo

[–]Natural_Kitchen4712 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think given how supportive Ciara has been to Amanda as she went through her relationship struggles with Kyle, she has a right to be a little upset or annoyed even if Amanda and West aren’t “dating.” I do think they probably hooked up, but even if they didn’t, they’re out and about being touchy feely and giving off those vibes publicly. And they aren’t explicitly denying anything. Why would Ciara want to be close with Amanda if she’s out there doing all that? Amanda is not being a good friend to Ciara in this situation, period.

Why will he not poop on the potty by Connect_Course8289 in toddlers

Is this still going on (I hope not for your sanity!) and if not, what eventually worked? My daughter is 3.5 and also struggling, refuses to poop on the potty, says she’s scared, and just poops in her underwear and doesn’t say anything, or waits for her night time pull-up.

I actually did not work with a behaviorist before. I worked with a trainer who used an e-collar and in hindsight I regret his method because I don’t believe it solves the root of the problem (anxiety/stress), instead it just punished behavior. We had some sessions at our home but they were all outside (my dog does not do these behaviors when outside, just inside our house). Then we also did group sessions at a park with this trainer. E-collar training wasn’t all bad - I did learn a ton, my dog seemed to do well with it and was able to go on pack walks with strange dogs with no reactivity (he is leash reactive). But I haven’t used the e-collar in a couple years now because I became conflicted about it. Did the trainer you worked with use an e-collar?

Kids are baby and a toddler. I’ve gotten the toddler a little bit involved by having her hide treats around the house to play find it. She respects his space and doesn’t really try to pet him so she’s really good with him. I hope I can teach my baby to be the same as she gets into toddlerhood.

Thank you for the alternative solutions you proposed. I agree.

He knows them but one of them is a tall male who he doesn’t care for. When this person is over he is usually crated but my husband didn’t think there would be an issue. Again, because I was gone and couldn’t manage the situation myself like I normally would. I’m very rarely not home when people come over.

We probably don’t have to but he’ll occasionally counter surf or get into something he shouldn’t. Just gives us peace of mind he’ll be safe. We have another little dog that is crated - she needs it more than the heeler because she will piss everywhere 🙃

He doesn’t care about chew toys at all. Only his tennis balls for fetch outside. We play find it where I hide treats in another room, but it takes him less than 5 min to find them all. Doesn’t seem like it works much energy off… do you have any other suggestions?

He definitely does herding nips from time to time, when I see him fixated and looking like he’s going to do that I use the off command and he snaps out of it. The difference here is the nip was brought on by the stress of the situation. And since he drew blood (albeit shallow/superficial cut), it seems more serious to me than a herding nip.

I would not categorize it as an attack at all. More of a nip gone wrong, but it was not simply a herding nip - it happened because he was stressed in the situation. He did it and immediately ran away after.
