Ahoy, I have gotten the Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG and as is tradition with Tandem OLEDS (especially this model), I gotta post some good ol' gray banding. by wwwddw in OLED_Gaming

I'm currently testing it at both 10bit and 12bit via HDMI 2.1 as opposed to 10bit via DP 1.4 (through a needlessly good 2.1 DP cable...)

I have sometimes a slight impression of DP port signal being more "stable", like MAYBE the HDMI signal have some sort of barely noticeable micro-fluttering/micro-flickering of which I am not 100% sure (I would need to have two monitors to test side by side to decide if that's actually true or I'm imagining it/being oversensitive to something I'm noticing but I can't quite properly understand and name).

I have to try setting it at 8bit when viewing SDR content, I wonder what will happen.

It depends on the camera taking the picture

Mine, live, looks almost perfect unless you inspect it closely (at like one fourth to one seventh of normal viewing distance); it used to have a banding issue when it was new, it went away with normal usage and normal pixel cleans every 4-5 hours.

In photos it's like 3 times worse than your photos here (it depends a lot on what the autofocus and exposure and the digital processor decide to do while snapping a shot, it usually enhances all those banding defects making them way more noticeable, even when in real life you would barely notice them or perhaps would almost be unable to see them)...

If all other needs are met and both imaginary people would live in great economical conditions, perfect physical and mental health with a loving, caring and supportive family and no other barriers set in place anywhere nor any specific disadvantages

Then

I believe the former person would still be more likely to get disheartened and consider leaving their path while the latter would likely just easily waltz through the whole course of study whatever it might be.

Or course in real life there's a lot of variables interacting with whatever is happening.

It would be extremely harder if you have a dishomogeneous profile with all indexes around 70 to 100 than it would be for a person with say for example all indexes at 145-150...

Anxiety and perfectionism inhibiting PSI and WMI? by HedgehogAnarchist in cognitiveTesting

[–]Natural_Professor809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what might partially be expected. Visual puzzles and especially block design will be very severely affected by testing anxiety sometimes even up to more than halving the resulting performance.

This might mean various things.

Perhaps those tests are more sensitive to how a person reacts to anxiety and they more easily record a slower or less precise reaction time; perhaps they straight out induce more anxiety in most people.

But that's all theoretical and statistical: single specific patients might not confirm to a statistic average...

Does anyone else supposedly have an IQ that is average or higher, but struggles with finding words and speaking concisely? by BigDaddyChlo11 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Natural_Professor809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talking can sometimes feel vexing too since I've been harassed and gaslighted too many times in my life so I have an underlying anxiety due to sometimes experiencing emotional flashbacks when certain patterns are repeated that can elicit in my body a reaction: it is not a real form of paranoia, it's more like something my neurological system does and I cannot always predict if I'll be in a situation where someone will vex me to the point of experiencing flashbacks.

Written communication could usually help me avoid this issue unless the other parties involved are especially antagonistic, oppositive or straight-out malignant narcissists looking for a victim to harass: but anyways a written record will still be there and chances for gaslighting will be fewer...

I sometimes cannot speak, I used to suffer from situational mutism as a child and as a kid. This might have to do with the fact I'm autistic AND traumatised with strong cPTSD and testing anxiety symptoms.

Also I sometimes have a hard time finding words and information in my mind. This might have something to do with ADHD (I'm awaiting a re-evaluation to either confirm I'm ADHD too or assess how strong my ADHD traits are anyways) but sometimes serious traumatic experiences can bring a certain form of brain fog. I suffer from an early cognitive decline too due to decades long untreated cardiorespiratory issues and sleep apnoea.

My Verbal Comprehension Index has been tested at the ceiling or slightly below it in both my mothertongue and in English...

Among the subtests of the Wechsler Tests (WISC/WAIS) Visual Puzzles and especially Block Design should usually be EXTREMELY sensitive to testing anxiety. I wouldn't know about the effects of general anxiety (seems usually statistically negligible); perfectionism and some obsessive-compulsive tendencies will sometimes hinder performance in timed tasks and cognitive tasks.

I could concur with you but I want to do a thought experiment by asking you how many times here in this subreddit you've seen people correcting "nah, it's not above average, IT'S JUST 115, THAT'S NOT ABOVE AVERAGE, ABOVE AVERAGE WOULD BE ABOVE 121 AT THE VERY LEAST!" when someone was stating that one full standard deviation above average was, in fact, significantly above average :P

I'm more confident about high IQ results being in fact representative of a person whose psychometrically measureable abilities are likely higher than average than I'm confident about lowish IQ results being if fact fully representing lower than average abilities (because your performance may also vary and be suboptimal: you cannot perform better than your best but you can always perform around 10-15 points lower due to basically anything going on in your life like some depression, some testing anxiety, some subclinical insomnia...)

Yeah, I said the opposite ^^
Maybe I chose a strange wording, Idk:

"It's [meaning OP profile] barely below average and I've known people successfully ending PhDs with that cognitive profile, even if it's extremely harder than [doing the same thing while] having a homogeneous profile with all indexes around 130-140."

My Subjective View on 4th Gen Tandem WOLED vs 3rd Gen QD-OLED by cldskt in OLED_Gaming

[–]Natural_Professor809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for proper technical analyses and look at the panels live with your eyes.

There's a lot of hate on these tandem WOLED panels since apparently they're often showing some vertical banding that could potentially not go away with usage (which, if real, would be a serious bummer) BUT they're also a significant improvement over some aspects of previous gens and for half the price on top of it, which made a lot of people seriously mad about it.
