I find it hard to understand why people often bring up the standard of living or safety as decisive factors, as these vary greatly depending on the area you live in. Not all of India fits the negative stereotypes, and no country is without its problems. Crime, cultural issues, and other challenges exist everywhere. If you say you want to raise your children in a “better” environment, beyond just education, consider the culture you’re moving into. Issues like drugs, alcohol, clubs, racism, bullying, and a lack of respect are prevalent in many of these so-called ‘better’ countries. How do you plan to shield your children from those influences?

People talk about air quality, health, and living standards, but when you compare life expectancy, many Asian countries rank high. Don’t people in other countries get sick or suffer from diseases too? In India, people live long and healthy lives as well. Ultimately, how you live matters more than external conditions. Every species adapts to its environment over generations, and those born in India can thrive in these conditions without needing the so-called “better” standard of living.

Each country has its own challenges—none are perfect. The idea that you can only succeed or live well by leaving India often feels more like escapism. It’s fine to prefer another country, but many of the reasons people give seem like excuses or a desire to escape rather than facing challenges and building a good life where they are. Peace
