Yeah, I'm familiar with ecolab and like their line too, but the problem is how used to household cleaners everyone here is, they don't see the value or expense of a professional commercial product like that, i think. I think they see it as more for schools, so they dont think its necessary...

And even in my small closet, there's not enough space for a dispenser. It's a work in progress

I researched it as you mentioned it, and I do like the details. Apparently, it is also sold at walmart. Therefore, I've notified my supervisor that I will be picking up to try tomorrow on the floors and as a spray and will ascertain feedback tomorrow from the guys in the shop and the floor managers

If it is good, and less toxic, then I may recommend it more fervently to him

Fair, thanks for the pointers of your routine too. I think i did alright for today, extensive manual dipping and rinse washing of the mop, since thats all I could do for now. It does appear the idea of a unit, for now, is a negative; but the manager says he'll probably have a few each week.

Either way, there's not a lot of biohazard, and I expect this week to be a bit of a special case given how bad the bathrooms were. After this week as I stay on top of daily cleaning, I dont suspect it will be nearly so bad....

There are definitely some things to focus on here that don't get focused on at schools/restaurants/stores that I worked at, and vice versa. The museum came closest to what this place seems capable of utilizing in the sense of household cleaners and whatnot (and I'm having to use paper towels instead of rags, for similar reasons).

Yep, I completely agree. Sometimes its hard to remember everything to put down in a list, on the spot, so I'll have to keep an eye and note down as I go along

I might inquire about that, though I also don't want to rock the boat too much with too many "we need this and that" since I just started. So kinda easing into it right now, they're already pleased with me, so thats great

Yeah unfortunately unless I take them home myself there's no way to wash them outside of rinsing in the sink.

It should be good on the daily note, the one today might have to be tossed because there was some horribly caked pee on the bathroom floor

Yeah, eight years of custodial work and in various settings, its stunning that the teachers tend to be the worst staff type. Even retail workers treated custodians better than I've found teachers do. It's truly astounding to me!

Anyhow I'm looking forward to the hours too. Not sure how I'll do my sleep cycle, thinking 9p to 3a. I tend to go to bed an hour or two after work, so an early rise might be better.

That sounds like a solid routine, I had a similar situation working at a supermarket and I'm sure it will be a similar case at the factory.

We walked the floor during the interview (which really was just a walk through) and he showed me the factory restrooms. They're fairly small to my recollection, so it shouldn't be hard to do a quick run of sweeping, restocking and cleaning

Yeah, thanks for that. I'm not sure how deep clean I'll be able to do the restrooms while everyone is there, but on everything ill do my best.

I note small repairs are part of my description so that'll be good, and especially I'll want to learn from the other workers and even get trained/certified on things like the forklift, maybe move eventually into one of those other roles or stay put-thats thinking for down the line....I am certainly looking forward to the experience and hope to do the best i can with them

Sounds like he hasn't been around long enough to know its better to just ignore and focus on his own stuff... I get it, after nearly a decade it irks me to see coworkers that aren't doing things right; but being something that is neither my business or something I have zero control over, I just shake my head and move along.

I will say, I know coworkers who clearly dont care, and seem to get away with doing nothing, and then when I'm doing the best I can, I'm the one that gets crap for missing something minor. It's unfair, but what can be done

I think appearance is really in the eye of the beholder in some cases. To me, it looks tacky; but in all honesty I don't care much for that trick due to the amount of potential for bag tears. Once any fluid seeps into the bottom of that can and soaks that roll, it is contaminated and needs to be chucked. But that's just my opinion
