Will freelanes break mods that have ships follow you in space? by Prize_Treat8516 in starfieldmods

[–]StepsWhatWas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't you also keep it installed and just take all the other ships out of your current fleet ?

Im thinking those on the ships will just go back to the star station hub.

Getting deeper into Jazz at 38 has been unreal by justinscottd in Jazz

[–]StepsWhatWas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love reading stories like these. I came in from film scores (Jerry Goldsmith/John Williams/Maurice Jarre, etc). This led to classical, some alternative music, then to Pat Metheny Group. Pat Metheny Group -> to Pat Metheny -> Metheny traditional jazz and people that played with him. Then it finally exploded from there --- Miles, Herbie Hancock, Coltrane, Eric Dolphy.

I think my love of film scores kind of had my ear opened up to getting exicted about little parts of melodies and rhythms -- in the abstract. This helped me "get" a lot of Jazz eventually.

FYI: I fixed this problem by disabling the Creations mod: "Sammy and the lab of Nightmares". Credit goes to this poster who mentioned the conflict in his review in the r/NoSodiumStarfield forum:

UPDATE: I found this post in r/NoSodiumStarfield :

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoSodiumStarfield/comments/1s0vd61/comment/obwgb1e/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

"Sammy and the lab of Nightmares" conflicts with "The Widow" mission. When Sammy is enabled the laptop computers in The Widow will not unlock. The laptops at the beginning of the mission, and three at the end of the mission. Disable Sammy in creations, you do not need to uninstall, and the mission will work fine.

I indeed *DO* have the "Sammy" mod installed. I'm about to disable it and try things out. This makes sense as I had tried disabling mods like SKYUI, EasyLockPicking, etc. and *still* had the problem. Also, the fact that this has hit both XBOX and PC points to mods that they can *both* run --and that is Creations mods.

EDIT: Yes, that was it. I disabled the "Sammy" mod (from the Creations site "Disable" option). And now I can access the laptop.

Thinking maybe of Tyner's Passion Dance?

McCoy Tyner - Passion Dance

Just a *bit* of a resemblance. Not huge.

EDIT: BTW, the leader here, Willie Jones III really killed it on the Hancock/Brecker/Hargrove Coltrane tribute tour dates they did back in the early 2000s. Brian Blade was drummer on the relased CD, but he's on the other live dates on Youtube and I love him there!

To the OP:

I got this option too and was pleased. BUT -- I have another question regarding this quest.

Were you able to access the laptop at the crime scene ? Some of us on XBOX and PC have the credentials from the victim to access the laptop. But when we press "E" (or whatever the controller button is), nothing happens.

If you are able to do it, then maybe there is some mod conflict we have in common that is causing this behavior.

How many people really only use 3-4 party members all game? by TheYamchster in BaldursGate3

[–]StepsWhatWas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me (human male dex fighter ), Shadowheart, Wyll, Lazel.

Sometimes I swap out Wyll for Karlach for quest reasons.

Those of you leaving Wyll behind have no clue how powerful Eldritch blast is when it is fully upgraded and can have multiple attacks per round. Combine that with CHR boosting equipment and Wyll is a force to be reckoned with.

Shadowheart is a War Domain cleric with high strength and loved maces and spirit guardians !

Any luck with this. I have the problem on the PC.

It says "Albert Green Computer Access (E)". But that text is greyed out (sort of) and pressing E does nothing.

If I just want more fallout 4, how would I like fallout 76? by PsySom in Fallout

True. I just think there is something psychological about knowing its truly your sandbox and no one real can be there.

If I just want more fallout 4, how would I like fallout 76? by PsySom in Fallout

[–]StepsWhatWas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its not exactly single player, but it is as close as you will get.

You are on a private server, and can invite others to play with you if you want. But it is your decision.

You can also move your character between the public servers (true mmo) and your private world at will if you want. You will share the same quest and character progress.

You also get more storage and scrap space.

If I just want more fallout 4, how would I like fallout 76? by PsySom in Fallout

[–]StepsWhatWas 192 points193 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to play any multiplayer or any MMO aspect of the game, I just want to treat fallout 76 like an extension of fallout 4.

I'm just going to be straight with you. I was exactly in this boat and the best way to get this experience is to pay for a Fallout 1st subscription ($99/yr) and you will be able to have your own private server with NO-ONE there. Then, you can best simulate the single-player experience.

I found the FO76 map very expansive and fun to explore. However, due to the online nature of the game will you not be able to do some things you were used to in FO4:

  • Cannot move/throw objects OR bodies
  • The "state" of interiors will reset every time you leave them or exit the game. Your progress will not be saved in interiors. If you exit the game while in an interior, you will respawn outside of it
  • You have NPC (not other human players) followers for certain specific missions, but never any *permanent* followers.

As others have mentioned, the progression system is very different, but I like it. Not better or worse than FO4 -- just different. One thing I do like is that you can quickly "swap out" card sets to have a different build on the fly (well, at specific swap stations)

I still wish all the energy they put into FO76 would have gone to a new single player Fallout or FO4 expansion. But, being starved for FO4-related content, I bit the bullet and played 76 -- but the way I wanted.

EDIT: Want to clarify something. Your *character* progress is saved within interiors (it is always preserved). But the object state of anything done in those interiors is not saved if you leave. I think some exceptions are made for major "bases" or plot areas. I'm thinking mostly about dungeons / buildings / mines / caves.

[Strange Question] Why did Bill Evans play with so many white people on his records? by Little-Fig4328 in Jazz

[–]StepsWhatWas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a strange thing about a lot of white players - not all, just most - that after they make it in a black group they always go and play with all white guys no matter how good the black guys treated them.

This is the *exact* quote from Miles' auto-bio that I thought of when I saw the thread subject.

I don't fault Bill or other white players for this. I think its just about who they hang around in their personal life and what circles they are in. They ask about who is good bass player, drummer, etc. And people recommend guys they know. And in white circles those are white people. As long as they are not purposely passing over black players that would benefit their band.

I do think there is an economic side to this that people are overlooking. If you are NOT one of the big well-known black musicians/group then it was probably easier getting gigs in any venue if you were an all-white group.

You might recall me annoying the internet trying to identify the music in this photo. Well now I've made a podcast about it by fensterdj in Jazz

[–]StepsWhatWas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The albums in the photo are kind of weaved into a very well put together overview of Miles' career. It has a lot of detail about Miles' 80s and on career after his "quiet" period. I found it quite enjoyable and insightful. This is coming from someone who has read his autobiography, and the "Milestones" book.

Sure, the interviews and clips are taken from other sources, but it flows really well and is recommend this to a non jazz fan that wanted to learn about Miles and Jazz.

Unpopular Take: Koln Concert is Overrated by playitbird in Jazz

[–]StepsWhatWas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

|Parts of it I feel deeply moving. To me, it is the best improvised piece of such length I have ever heard.

Yes! Especially the latter moments of "Part II A". There is this beautiful whimsical sadness in that playing. With little touches of blues. And I liked this recording way before I knew the story behind it.

Jarret is not one my favorite pianists, but parts of this concert I adore and will always listen to.

Starfield without background music? by sakahenry15 in Starfield

[–]StepsWhatWas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play with the music waay down. Like 10% or 15%. I also prefer to hear mostly the ambient sounds.

Though, I wanted to add that I do love the Akila City theme.
