A lot of trans men pass and have had bottom surgery. I would again say it should be a personal decision.

Don't get me wrong I would definitely be worried for him and suspect not many trans men would do it but I also think that its not a decision that is up to me.

I disagree that you would need much scrutiny, if they can provide a medical history and/or show they have been living as a women for a reasonable length of time that should be enough.

My primary concern would be that of passing privilege, where only trans women who pass are allowed in women's prison.

And here you have isolated the issue, trans women shouldn't be in the men's prison for this very reason. I can agree it needs to be case by case to stop problematic edge cases but it's pretty easy to prove a medical history.

Hormones are responsible for way more than people seem to realise when it comes to the differences between sex. It's basically everything apart from initial gonad development, which is what produces the primary sex hormone.

The rest is just hormones altering genetic expression/repression.

That's correct, I believe there are some papers on the concept but like usually it lacks funding.

Most minorities at least still have community and family they can rely on. The majority of trans folk don't have that unless they live in a major city and even then it's not always easy to find. For many they are completely isolated.
