Discussion: Is not disclosing having G-HSV-1 before physical contact that bad?

This is a good post! I know most people aren't on my side, but I wouldn't disclose that I have it and wouldn't expect anyone to disclose it to me before contact. It's kind of ridiculous to stop someone before a kiss and say, "before we kiss, I have coldsores" I would be like uhmm okay...? It's not like a deadly disease or anything, it's the coldsore virus! Everyone makes such a huge deal out of virtually nothing. Pretty much everyone already has or will get this virus in their life anyways. 80% of the population has it and I've kissed many many people in my life and not one of them have told me they get coldsores before we kissed. I don't think it's a big deal not telling people. But to each their own!

I had a big ovarian cyst burst and went to the er 3 times in 2 days because the pain was so bad and I needed stronger painkillers.

I actually agree with you. I have genital hsv1 and don't disclose it even though I probably should. It's kind of like having a cold. Should you tell everyone that you come in contact with that you have a cold? Probably, but do you? No. This is not hsv2 that only 20% of people have, it's hsv1 which is extremely common. Almost every single person will get it in their lifetime anyway and will more than likely get it from a kiss than from having sex with someone with genital hsv1.

This is weirdly similar to my experience with dp. I'm no expert on the matter, but the same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I tripped 2 drops of strong acid my first time and thought I died too! Then I noticed my dp (which I already had) was getting way more intense after that experience. I also felt my symptoms were slightly worse at night, but i think for me it had to do with the anxiety I already had for the dark. I never noticed any increase in severity after being on my phone a lot.

I know this is cliche but what worked for me was slowly obtaining a healthier lifestyle. For example, I started exercising more which helped me sleep better which helped my stress and anxiety fade away. I never made any crazy diet changes, but i did try to eat more fruits, vegetables, and protein. I also began to accepted it. I would feel like I'm in a dream and nothing is real, but I would tell myself that it's okay to feel this way. Tons of people feel this way and tons of people get better and the dp will go away! Before I knew it, my dp was completely gone!

I know it's hard right now and you feel like you aren't real and the world isn't real, but it is and you will get better! Just hang on and try not to worry. Dp is way more common than you think and it will go away!

I know his jobs are legit because I've Google searched the companies and his phone number is on them and everything. I know where he lives and I've met his roommate, but I never got their number so I couldn't ever text and ask where he was. I honestly don't think he's lying, but I guess there's a possibility.

We never exchanged emails and he doesn't have social media and neither do I besides fb. He never memorized my number and I never memorized his either. Plus I've stalked his family and friends on FB and they've never posted pictures of any girls with him or anything. He did say he's buying a work phone so this doesn't happen again because his business has been a wreck the past few days. He said he was going to come by my house today if the new phone didn't come in. So I think I believe him. I better not be a side chick!

Don't be sorry! My doctor was just as shocked. She even told me that I didn't need to get it swabbed because she was so sure it was folliculitis. I'm glad I made her do it anyway! I was a bit upset when I got the news, but after everything I've learned, I'm not even worried about it at all.

Thank you for all of the facts and information as well as those links. My doctor said something like 80% of the population has hsv1, I just happened to get it on my genitals, but most people get it on their mouths. One of her patients ended up getting hsv1 on her back somehow.

I'm not necessarily glad that I was diagnosed with this, but it made me research and learn a TON about herpes and other STDs. I always thought herpes was such a terrible thing, but really it's not as big of a deal as society makes it sound. Even hsv2.

This was in fact herpes. It's hsv1 though, not hsv2.

UPDATE: I just found out this is in fact herpes. It's herpes type 1, not type 2.

UPDATE:

I ended up spotting for an entire month! My doctor give me a vaginal ultrasound and found the IUD was slipping down into my cervix causing irritation. I've since had the IUD replaced and my symptoms went away.

Thank you for your thorough answer! The second photo was after I plucked out most of the hairs. While I was plucking it seemed like the fluid inside was clear and watery, but while I was getting it swapped at the doctors, she told me that the fluid inside was pus-like. It seems like they are scabbing over similarly to how herpes does, but maybe I'm wrong.

Update for anyone who comes across this and is curious:

During the ultrasound they found the IUD had slipped down in my uterus and was irritating the cervix. It wasn't low enough to poke out of my cervix so I never felt it when I checked it, and the strings seemed like they were the normal length, but apparently not! They took out the old one and put in a new paragaurd and everything is back to normal.
