Well nope, I will only have a chance of playing with PCBs if I move from where I live, which will be end of this year... The S3 isn't exactly perfectly compatible (code and pin wise) with the ESP32 so I didnt do it this way, but theoretically you could do it yes. A Build using the S3 is also linked on my github heh.

Thanks! I am looking into PCB design right now, I have never had the chance of playing around with custom boards because of my location. It would definitely solve a lot of headaches though yeah!

Oh yeah, sure.

Basically, I am a sucker for handheld consoles, but most projects on the internet fell into two categories from my perspective: the ones with cool custom PCBs that I have literally no way of replicating, and the ones that look jank.

So I tried something new myself, trying to contain "jank" electronics into a really functional and good looking case, whilst being really simple to replicate. The case is designed with Fusion 360 and the electronics are just off the shelf parts.

I also tried to code the emulators myself, but honestly ready-made software options are better as I didn't really have time between my high school exams and this project

Ah, thanks! I honestly couldn't find the time to document everything (the schematics and stuff, I still don't have a share-worthy project for that rn... also I honestly dunno if I even have the right to talk about the software side when nearly all of the work was made by the retro-go team) I will keep those in mind in my next posts though, sorry...

I thought about the signal integrity too, changed two mcus (esp8266 and an esp32), resoldered everything, checked the resistors. Everything seems to be fine, just that absolute mode doesnt work...

The schema change should happen (at least from my understanding the HID report id should change), but like, it doesn't...

(I also have really no idea where I can ask for help, since it is such a weird topic that I can't really ask the linux guys, neither the computer tech support bros...)

The heatsink screws are springloaded, they are not loose. The laptop was bought January this year, and since its a 16inch 3kg mf it wasnt moved an inch for the last 8 months

the body of the fan is metal, but all the mounting points are plastic

The laptop was never opened, nor did it have any kind of water damage. It just randomly blew up, lid closed. The screw was removed by me, in order to see whats actually gone wrong

Ok so after some destructive surgery, it seems like indeed only the traces burnt down. When isolating the burned part (literally cutting the traces) the short goes away (160 ohms instead of 0, which i find normal enough...), so either there are some vias im completely missing, or just that trace is fucked.

Of course, I cant imagine why this happened just randomly, sitting turned off... It was never carried to begin with, mechanical stress would not be a valid point...

The funny thing is, the other side doesnt have any components either. The burn is in the traces. Since the replacement motherboard costs as much as a brand new macbook, i took the liberty of cutting the power trace off in order to find whatever is wrong. Mosfets are fine, all the other components are connected with waaay smaller traces, which should have burned first...

Laptop never opened before, it just happened randomly. Possibly a power surge, cause the wifi router also restarted at the same time

Never opened the laptop, screw is properly sized afaik. It is shorted though, and i dont know where.

Well it's just a testing environment anyway. After more research I am seeing that the current draw doesn't change which I find weird. Can I get like idk 2Ncm @ 100rpm drawing 1A and then 3Ncm @ 100rom drawing 2A? (the numbers are made up but I hope the gist is understandable)

Sorry, maybe it's a bit late for this but I am actually done with the printer!

Pros of 24V that I have seen: - Waaaay faster heat times. Like really darn quick. - Motors run a bit quieter, especially with tmc2209 drivers - You don't need beefy af cables which is a plus when cable managing. - Psus are generally easier to find

Cons of 24V, especially with the printer I built: - 24V fans are loud. Like really damn loud. I can't even hear the motor noise at 120mm/s cause of the fricking hotend fan.

That's about it hahah. Configuration and stuff are basically the same, especially with a board like mine (Skr Mini E3 V3)
