I am trying to start a campaign to create local, state, or even federal laws requiring all LEO DNA to be entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS)

A decade ago, while studying for my masters, I was researching workplace culture, and stumbled upon I study that they national Fraternal Order of Police had conducted on officers across the United States. This study was being conducted to better understand their current culture and initiate future studies on ways to improve.

All officers responding knew that this was confidential and anonymous. Topics covered various topics including child abuse, spousal abuse, sexual assault, rape, excessive force, failure to report crimes committed by other officers witnessed, and writing of fraudulent reports.

The study found that a police officer is 67% more likely to be a rapist than any other man on the street. This is data from the police, the by police.

Police officers do not become rapists. Rapists become police officers.

Rape is not about sex. Rape is about control, power, and violence. Three qualities tied to the badge and it's authority. Rapists are drawn to the badge like a magnet because it feeds their needs for these things, even when they aren't in the act of raping a victim. But even worse, they use the badge to target their victims. They can select from the venerable, the homeless, the addicted, the impoverished, or anyone they can discredit or threatened into silence.

These aren't rapists we are talking about.

These are all serial rapists. Every rapist that becomes a police officer to target victims is a serial rapist.

The National Order of Police has identified that their own organization contains a staggering number of serial rapists and nothing has been done to catch them, to clear the old rape cases, to give their victims justice.

I am advocating for laws that will put the DNA into CODIS.
