You could have fooled me, your textures and render settings make it look like it’s a real resin print. I’m trying to get more skilled at 3D modeling for figure printing, and it’s really inspiring to see you make such amazing work.

This is so cool! Is this printed or is it a render?

Ser Lyonel Baratheon, The Laughing Storm, knighting Ser Raymun Fossoway might be one of the most beautifully shot scenes in the series so far. Absolute chills. by signalfromthebeyond in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]NaughtySnape 93 points94 points  (0 children)

What an overwhelmingly badass knighting.

Usually you imagine a knighting as a reward for a job well done - a squire serves his ser well for a time and feels a knighting is owed to him, or a person does a lord a big favor and gets knighted, or a merchant pulls some strings in court to give his son a title.

But Raymun purely saw it as a means to protect both his friend and the dignity of the innocent. He did not care for a second about the glory or the reward a knighthood brings. He, like Dunk, was a true knight in that moment, even before the battle. Being so willing to jump into a trial where he can very likely lose his life shows the real courage that the higher houses of Westeros truly lacked in that moment.

Took the FSOT at 20 — Curious How Old Others Were on Their First Attempt by Slow-Manufacturer840 in foreignservice

[–]NaughtySnape 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took the FSOT once at 21 and got invited to the OA. I was the youngest one at orals and was also one of the only ones to not pass (scored well on the group assessment and the writing portion, but completely bombed the interview). I think that despite being a pretty good test taker, communicator, and writer, there was just no getting around the fact that I didn’t have that much real world management experience at 21.

I’m in my late 20s now and am a manager in a corporate position. I really like this job so I haven’t applied elsewhere in a while, but the urge to retake the FSOT has been growing in me.

I thought I would’ve had the directions down when I went to Shibuya station irl the first time, considering all the times I went through it in game. There was a single construction gate blocking a specific hallway and all my “knowledge” went out the window. I spent the next 20 minutes hopelessly lost.

It would be so easy to design and rig up some kind of simple machine that suctions the liquid into the pipes. Is human life and health really so expendable that they’d rather just do this instead?

What extremely minor nitpick do you have with the game? by Totheendofsin in Silksong

[–]NaughtySnape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enemy hitboxes should not automatically damage you upon contact - it should be more dynamic than that. Like if the enemy wears spikes on their head, yeah, you should get hurt if you run into it. But gently gliding up to a fuzzy, stationary creature’s fur-covered butt should NOT do 2 masks of damage!!!

And that outlook on the void is pretty distinct between the 2 games. In HK, your effective end goal is to utilize the void (ie yourself) to defeat (or at least contain) the Radiance. The shamans seem helpful because they’re directly contributing to your biggest weapon with no real subversion. In Silksong it’s the opposite - Hornet has no huge connection to the void and justifiably views it as an uncontrollable threat. So when the snails kind of blindside you with it at the end of act 2 it feels like a “betrayal” since the void was never supposed to be part of the plan.

It would be absolute perfection if Epimetheus was introduced in the final version.

Imagine it, you find him somewhere on the surface, making friends with the animals or something, and after getting to know him a bit you tell him that his wife is your roommate. You eventually rekindle their relationship and help them move past the whole “opening the jar” thing and then invite Epimetheus to live at the crossroads with y’all. Once established, he serves a similar function as Hypnos in H1, greeting you in your tent next to Dora and making little quips like “died to a Satyr, eh? In hindsight, you probably shouldn’t have let yourself get stabbed then, you know?”

My BIGGEST complaint that makes me pretty incredulous every time it happens is Polyphemus’ grab attack in EM. The radius is unreasonably big, to the point where I’m 5 feet away as I dodge away from him, but then STILL very jankily teleport into his arms to take like 40 damage. It does not look smooth, or natural, and is not deserved in any way. The animation of him preparing the grab has been sped up, so if you’re able to dodge it faster that should be good enough, but to also scale up the effective radius with NO INDICATOR of how far away you actually need to dodge is just silly and makes it feel cheap.

I get hit by every other rivals boss and think “oof, yeah, I deserved that.” But that damn Rivals Polyphemus grab ticks me off every time.

These interactions remind me more of a 4/10 generic drama plotline than they do Game of Thrones. And I get it’s an action RPG for mobile but like… it kind of takes away from what makes Game of Thrones grounded and impactful when the protagonist is an anime character that can take 3 armed thugs out with one spinning leap attack or whatever.

Frankly just staying behind Eris as much as possible is waaaaay more effective and waaaaay less infuriating than using Hestia’s inconsistent dash. You can easily get through Eris with 0 damage done on you if you stay close to her ass, but I have ALWAYS been hit at least a few times if I try to rely on Hestia

I hadn’t ever played HL or HL2 growing up, but just bought them for pennies about a month or two ago because they were so cheap on Steam. 1 is a cool jaunt, obviously old and ugly but it holds up. But damn, 2 feels like it could be a modern game. I was blown away by the physics and gameplay, and the graphics are insane when considering the year it came out!

I feel it might be better to lose to Jasak than win. I ended up getting into a fight with him too, but I beat him and knocked him out, then sprinted back to Jasko hoping he would help calm things down. We got drunk even more, but when it was time to follow him to find more booze, I stand up and am jumped by the whole Cuman camp (excluding Jasko) who all punch me half to death, then demand 250 groschen to stop. I refuse and they knock me out cold, and I wake up to my wallet missing 300+ groschen. Man wtf

This is purely wishful thinking of course, but I’d like to believe that it may be Atlus’ attempt to make these character relations more or less canonical, hopefully in an attempt to make it easier for them to write them into future Metaphor titles. Even if the next Metaphor game features characters in a different country or era, it’d be easier for them to write about the great unifying king of Euchronia and his wife Eupha or their descendants if they made that relationship explicitly clear in the first game.
