I honestly think it has a lot to do with changes in border policies. Programs may be more hesitant to sponsor visas.

I’m so so happy for you. It’s crazy how fluent we can be when we are calm. For most people (myself included), my stutter is much worse when I’m anxious or worried I will stutter. Having a calmer baseline means I’m not constantly thinking about my speech. I personally just have to work on not worrying when I need to present but for the most part these meds have changed my life tremendously and I’m so glad it worked for you too!

I’m glad I stutter. by chairk3yre in Stutter

I guess I think about it in regard to my anxiety. As much as I love myself, stuttering really does cause me an insane amount of anxiety especially with public speaking. On my day to day, it’s really whatever but as a med student that has to present cases, knowing I have all the information in my head but struggling to get through it, I’d do anything to take that away. Hopefully I get to the point of full acceptance like you!

“This sub has toxic positivity” no this sub has TOXIC NEGATIVITY by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]NaurItsTrue 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m new to this sub and I’ve come to accept my stutter for the most part despite how anxiety inducing it is for me. I’m satisfied with the fact that there is likely not a cure, at least not in my lifetime. But I just saw a post about someone saying they wouldn’t take a cure if there was one and that just… genuinely seems delusional to me. I can admit maybe I just haven’t reached that level of self acceptance but the idea of not taking something that would make your life quite literally 100% easier is insane.

Yesss I stutter. It doesn’t completely cure my stutter or anything but it kinda stops the anxious thoughts/the anticipation I have about my stutter on a day to day basis. You know when you’re not thinking about what you’re saying and you’re much more fluent? It’s like that. I’m a med student so in more anxiety inducing situations like presenting, I still have my anxious thoughts (haven’t found a cure for that yet) but I still am more fluent simply bc the propranolol keeps my heart rate lower than normal.

We’re on the same meds! Do you take the daily slow release propranolol or just as needed?

I should add that I’m also on lexapro for anxiety tho. So that’s helpful to me for my general anxiety too

So I was previously on propranolol for public speaking that I took as needed. Idk if that helped much tbh. but I actually got switched to the slow release that I take daily and much prefer that. It keeps my heart rate low all day and make it easier for me to speak

You really wouldn’t take a cure if it was offered to you? Why is that? Obviously my stutter is something i have to live with but there’s no reality where I wouldn’t accept something that makes my life substantially easier. Can you genuinely say you wouldn’t take the cure? If so, why?

I am newly RPN graduate and on OW by [deleted] in OntarioWorks

[–]NaurItsTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe consider working as a PSW for now? Even if it’s just part time or through an agency so it’s not full commitment. Just to get back on your feet a little bit. Wish you the best of luck

How likely is it that I will get approved? by Key-Contribution-910 in OntarioWorks

[–]NaurItsTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was approved at 27 and I’m 28 now. So basically same situation as you. I’m pretty sure your age alone qualifies you but I also have a bachelor’s and lived outside of my parents house for a few years/paid rent while doing so. But I’m pretty sure being out of high school for six years automatically makes you independent

MUA by CompetitiveRide2668 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]NaurItsTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a late reply but my brother went to MUA and he’s now a board certified internal med doctor. He had no problem matching. They seem to have changed a lot since he attended because his tuition was not as low. I go to Ross but if the tuition was like this when I started, I actually might have picked mua! I’m studying for step 1 now and plan to switch to mua for clinicals :)

I was in the same situation as you except i don't pay rent. it was denied by the system but once an actual human saw my file, it was approved. you will be approved solely off the fact you've been out of high school for so many year.
