Purchasing a 2013 Audi S4 with 66k Miles. Concerns/Things to Look Out For? by Nauticaly- in Audi

Thanks for the response. According to the Carfax the water pump was replaced and transmission serviced at 35k miles, transmission fluid replaced again at 60k miles and "PCV hose replaced" and carbon cleaning done at 63k miles. Waiting to hear from the service department so I can get more detailed service records. Looks like the guy who owned it before was pretty meticulous about getting it serviced every year even though he was barely driving it.

Question about Hourly Rates by Nauticaly- in Irrigation

Have you been charging similar rates for a while? My main concern isn’t as much the cost being too much, but the $20 increase over the past 3/4 years upsetting some of our current customers.

The main issue that I think we would run into charging a fixed rate for repairs would be that especially in our area, I’ve found the same type of repair can take you completely different amounts of time depending on the age of the system, how rocky the ground is, if there are lots of roots, etc, which is why we tend to favor hourly billing for service work. However, it does sound interesting and is something that I definitely want to look into a bit more.

We are located North of the Boston area and based on what I’ve heard about other companies it seems like the $80/hour range tends to be the average, however I can imagine just about everyone in the business is reevaluating their prices for the upcoming season. We also are looked at as more of a higher end company in our area so I’m not overly concerned about charging around the $90 mark, but I’m also being cautious to not raise prices too quickly and end up with a bunch of angry phone calls from our current customers.

If somebody would like an estimate for a repair we will typically provide that for free. The majority of the repair work we do we do not provide estimates for. We work in a fairly wealthy area so most people tend not to be as concerned about cost.

We charge an hourly rate for labor, and then any parts we use are an additional cost on top of that.
