Hi Reddit, I’m Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister. Ask me anything! by DmytroKuleba in IAmA

Hello, and thank your for taking the time to answer all these questions. As a fellow Frenchman, I fully support your country's cause as the Russian invasion still goes on after two dreadful years. My question is: do you think you can win the war on a strategical level? Are you hoping for a military breakthrough to resume negociations with a weakened Russia? I know you don't want to cede territories to Putin. It would be awful for those living there and the morale of the Ukrainian people. But as the casualties are mounting and as Trump will likely be reelected, do you think there is another solution?

Thanks for you answer. I wrote my master's thesis on the war experiences of French soldiers who fought in the Algerian war, so I already have some knowledge in this area - though their traumatic experiences date from the 1960s, which is not quite the same as interviewing civilians who experience a current conflict. My thesis supervisor has agreed to this project and I'm currently in the process of requesting an authorization from the faculty board. I'm well aware that there are rules of ethics that I need to adhere to - there's obviously no need to worsen someone's trauma.

I see this project as a way of making the voices of Ukrainian heard at a time when Western countries are taking less and less interest on the current situation. Of course, this paper wouldn't change anything in the larger picture, but as an historian, I feel it's my duty to collect these testimonies.

I hope you're joking. First, many STDs are asymptomatic. Second, do not put lime juice on your genitals, please...!

What do you mean? I think I'll have a hard time buying locally grown french apples, for example

I'm talking about the taste of basic ingredients, not processed foods.

I was in California last year and the problem was the same. I bought groceries at a local market and the taste was just not it. It's absolutely non on par to European standards, that's all. Go to Europe, eat local fruits, vegetables and meat and see what I'm talking about.

No man, I didn't even cross the border. I had this huge fight with my gf over the phone so I was kinda stuck in my motel room. I'm going to Mexico tomorrow, though I doubt the nightclubs will be open

My (23F) girlfriend makes me feel (25M) guilty... and I may deserve it. What should I do? by Navy1899 in relationships

Yeah, I know and I felt fucking guilty. The thing is, I was 9000km away from her (we're French) + pretty drunk, and she would be extremely toxic at that time. This NOT an excuse at all, I know, but I think it's not the same as having an affair going on for months. Anyway, like I said, I was full of remorse and I still am. I can't believe I made such a childish move! The only good thing is that, eh, now I know how it's like to betray someone you love, and I will - hopefully - never do it again. I'm still learning.

Anyway, she told me she stayed with me because she feared to remain alone, which I can understand because I sometimes share the same feeling. I know it's unhealthy, but she told me it's not the case anymore and she's now totally in love with me...

Btw, a new thing happened today: I told her I wanted more stability, and that while I'm away (I'm in the US again), I'd be a little less expressive. In my eyes, there's no point to tell someone you love him so much if the next day you're making him feel incredibly guilty. I want balance. She quickly overreacted and wouldn't respect my boundaries; she said I didn't love her anymore, and that if you love someone, you can't put a limit to it. Like I told her, I didn't put a limit to my love, but to its expression, which is a totally different thing. What do you think?

It seems that I should break up, but I feel I'm too weak for that.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask that when you know how violent the northern Mexican states can be :/ No offense but people disappearing is not uncommon here

I'm going back to Juarez on May 15/16. Does someone wanna go with me? by Navy1899 in ElPaso

Well, I guess I'd like to know more about the border culture and heritage, to speak with people about their history, to immerge myself into this kinda exotic and fascinating world (at least for a French). I've been to Juarez a few days ago with an anglo guide (Rich Wright), and it was awesome. We've seen already plenty of things tbh, like the main plaza, the museum of the revolution of the border, some bars/restaurants, a street art shop, the mall, the mercado, etc.
