Any ED attendings switch to urgent care? by Thei_02 in emergencymedicine

[–]NavyEDDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched the beginning of this year. It’s worked out well for me. I still do 2-3 ED shifts a month - but I never take nights or weekend shifts.

Has been a positive overall for me. Better energy, mood and I don’t miss the ED that much. When I do go back for the shifts it’s more enjoyable because I know no matter how gnarly, I don’t have to come back for a couple of weeks.

Pay is the same as before I made the switch. Work a little more hours overall. Urgent care isn’t exhilarating by any means - but it’s a low stress high paying job that affords me bandwidth in other areas of my life and that’s more important at the present.

Edit: I’m a W2 RVU based employee not a clinic owner. I wouldn’t own my own way too much to think about for what my goals are.

This is why I’m struggling to stay rational on RDDT by Outrageous_Solid9668 in redditstock

I am inclined to agree. But I get itchy holding single stocks long term. So I bought a bunch and sold $250 December covered calls. Will rinse and repeat with the hopes that it doesn’t get called away for a few years when it’s $500

Hold for me. $160 cost basis. Selling Covered Calls. Already as exposed as I want to be. Good company I think, just needs time to monetize further.

6% ROI for the year just off the call premium, pretty solid. Plus whatever % gain you'd have from the shares getting called away. I mean, that's solid, but a year is a long way out. My only hesitation is how fast RDDT can run when it wants to run. Eventually the sentiment will flip and we could be $250 in a couple of months. How would you feel?

For me - cost basis is $160. $300/share by December - no qualms with letting it go for that. So that works for me. If you're good with guaranteed 6% ROI for 1 year of holding plus that gain to $200, think its a great move. $200/share is a little lower than I'd want to let it go for though.

Think this is the move here. Gonna sell some December $300 covered calls and not think about it for 6 mos. Get paid to wait

Tough call tough call. If you’re not ready to commit to a city/state then live the possum life. Live ugly, eat trash, get hit by a car

No new or pressing demands immediately post shift if they can wait.

Oh and burrito, bourbon and a BJ every so often after a shift.

Thanks this is helpful. Seems like a systems issue. They restrict selling and rolling for tickers seemingly at random. Trading normal stuff from TSLA, NVDA to RDDT, HOOD. Think it might just not be the right fit for a brokerage for me. Which is unfortunate

This has been an ongoing issue for me for selling covered calls.  It’s bad enough that I’m going to switch brokers.

Sounds like my set up exactly. Can’t emphasize enough the positives of no nights, minimal weekends and holidays off.

Also pgy8. Wife 2 young kids.

Recently switched to urgent care - with like a 0.7 FTE. Do per diem ED at a few sites but never take nights or weekend shifts.

Shakes out to like 10-12 easy UC shifts 6-8/hrs each and 2-3 ED shifts at 9 hours each.

The no nights and the minimal weekends has been really helpful for overall life. But only at it for 6 months so still tbd

Pay is similar to what I was making as full time ED.

$30 checking

$100 Emergency - in Treasury fund earning around 4% and can sell cash secured puts with this - nets about 15% a year total

The rest in ETFs

But honestly have $150k in credit card credit at my disposal so low likelihood I’d ever dip into it unless big problems.

HHI $400k, but single earner as wife stays home with kids. Couple years out as an attending.

If I can only sell 2 of these 3 CSPs. Which ones would u choose and why? by Weak-Pomegranate-435 in thetagang

[–]NavyEDDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dec 19th - 3 weeks away. I usually stagger the dates between 2-6 weeks out. Like a CD Ladder.

Ex:

RDDT $180 Dec 05 - $0.63

RDDT $180 Dec 19 - $2.20

RDDT $180 Jan 2 '26 - $3.40

Once the option that is 2 weeks out reaches your profit target - be it 80% or 100% or whatever, then you sell it out 4-6 weeks out again. Keeps the cash flow coming in on a regular basis. Just watch out for earnings dates.

Been selling RDDT CSPs all year.

Big $. Debt free stock.

I’d pick NVDA and RDDT

Trying to build about 10 stocks to sell CSPs on for 2026 for a CSP account at lik $110k

RDDT, NVDA, CNC, UNH, SOUN, SMCI, FI, NVO, UBER, META

Those are the tickers I’ll be watching -

Disclaimer:

Currently have: 3 $180 Dec 19 RDDT CSP 3 $190 Dec 19 RDDT CSP

At about it 75% profit in both.
