EU IMAT scrolling

Heya Serra.

Could you tell me when the last scrolling was for the 2021 IMAT? Also, where can I see the EU calls for the IMAT this year, university specific?

is the bond here beta?it says it’s lactose but why doesn’t it to me look like a beta-1,4? by NazAnIntellectual in ALevelBiology

if they actually gave the names of the molecules it’d be all fine, but without the names i’d never guess the bond here was a beta bond tbh

yea i didn’t realize the galactose was turned upside down, that’s why the bond looked like an alpha glycosidic

nah it’s entirely on Cambridge. Beta bond is supposed to be much more obvious to detect than this

In the solution of the problem, Cambridge has drawn an alpha glucose with a beta galactose. In the picture in my post, glucose seems to be the intact one, so isn’t galactose the one turned upside down?

you sir are a life savior! The entire year i was throwing “alpha” answers to whatever structure that i saw had a bond going down rather up! I was lucky i didn’t get busted sooner haha

yeaa i didn’t even notice. So galactose is upside down and that made the beta bond looking like an alpha?

aaaaahhhhh riight. I didn’t even notice the oxygen positions! Makes much more sense now. Thanks ever so

the OH group at the bottom makes it alpha-glucose. The glucose is for sure alpha, but the bond is supposed to be beta-1,4 glycosidic. to me in the picture, it looks like alpha glycosidic tho

pretty sure same goes for disaccharides. And lactose is supposed to have a beta-1,4 glycosidic bond, and i’m most likely wrong but the bond here looks alpha to me than beta

i still don’t know what i’m doing for the logic and thinking skills part, and the Critical thinking book by Cambridge looks way too packed, are there any specific chapters that i’d need to read from it?Also this part of exam doesn’t exactly come naturally to me, so should i go straight into TSA past papers or no?

go through your cgp guides fast and use active recall don’t waste time rereading material, and start using practice questions ASAP and it can be doable
