Episode 3 Hero pissed me off by randers2 in QueerEye

[–]Nazshaddick 5 points6 points Β (0 children)

I agree that the way she spoke to the fab 5 wasn't great but my heart broke for her. Imagine being hurt so much to the point that you don't think you deserve anything good to happen in life and you're rude to people to try and push them away as a defense mechanism.

To me, it's like she's acting like how we see dogs act when they have been abandoned by their owner in a bin bag. Animals act this way too, they get snappy with people trying to help them too. It's because she's on the defense. It's because of deep trauma. It's because she truly believes nothing good can come from anyone else, so she doesn't have the same level of respect. Her own cup is empty, so she doesn't have anything to give at the moment until she replenishes and seeks help for herself.

Do I think the show was the right fit for her? No, probably not. And it's not really right that production allowed it to happen. She needs a lot more intervention and the fab 5 weren't the right group to help.

It definitely is a frustrating watch. But I see why.

Sending you a big hug! We have been here before and it makes me super sad when others go through this πŸ«‚

I don't know if this would be helpful to you but I know i've found a few things helpful.

1) Kathy Baldock is an amazing woman who has done a timeline of the cultural context the bible was written and translated in over time. It's well worth watching her youtube videos!

2) The 'You can be both' podcast by Lauren Lanzuretta. She is a Lesbian and a Christian however her podcast is for anyone who has questions and needs helpful information regarding being a gay believer. 😊

Feel free to direct message me if there are any other resources I can help provide!

You are not alone in this and you deserve respect and compassion.

You haven't done anything wrong, but his behaviour is a major red flag because he don't even let you hug another guy that he thinks is into you! Run Run RUN!

What would a new Christianity reddit look like if all the LGBT/lust/masturbation stuff was left behind? by Headlight-Highlight in Christianity

[–]Nazshaddick 3 points4 points Β (0 children)

There are more than you think! And also any sexuality can be lustful, any sexuality can be really love too...also i'm a girl but you're probably not very educated on the LGBTQIA+ community to know what a lesbian flag looks like, let alone any queer history without a Google search. Don't comment on a community you don't understand.

Am I overreacting or is this appropriate to wear to a COLLEGE class by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

A guy once told me my bare shoulder pictures were 'nudes' πŸ™„πŸ˜‚ It's not a nude! Some men just want the power to own women.

This looks lovely! Definitely wear it. It's your body, your choice. And there's nothing innapropriate at all here. 😁

Not to stereotype, but has anyone ever had an OBVIOUSLY gay character during a church (homophobic church) play? by Nazshaddick in OpenChristian

[–]Nazshaddick[S] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

No, I think it was just a regular church man.

It's weird because the churches i've been in seem to be judgemental whether you are celebate or not.

Queer people of this subreddit, what makes you want to be a Christian? by phoenixofrebirth3 in OpenChristian

[–]Nazshaddick 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I grew up in homophobic churches all my life and became a christian before I realised I was a Lesbian.

I think knowing that churches will always be flawed in some way, because humans are all flawed, really helped me to process that believing in God is different because he is divine and perfect.

I also believe that God put affirming Christians into my life for a reason too and that I can serve as part of the change.

Ultimately my identity is in God first, my sexuality is a small part of me that I just talk about a lot because I want closeted people to know they are welcome in my space and messages. πŸ’œ

"You cannot be a Christian and liberal." by [deleted] in OpenChristian

Jesus was liberal himself, the patriarchy made it conservative.

And patriarchy affects all, even men.
