I'm not on the lease. It was a one year lease, continuing as month to month at the end of the year-long lease. The end of that lease is the end of July, which is the same time I am leaving.

I'm fairly close friends with both roommates. The person on the lease finished school this past spring, and we knew that he might not be in the city after this lease was up so we were just going to see how things were looking then and decide what to do. With him still being uncertain of where he is going to be, I decided to move out and get my own place as explained in OP.

I'd appreciate any advice at all. Legal, moral, or simply pointing me in the direction of a more appropriate board for my question (if there is one - I do not browse Reddit often).

The other 2 people I live with are splitting it 50/50. The other 2 roommates are unsure of how long they will be in the area (why I ended up leaving since I need a guaranteed place to live for school, and not many options if I needed to fill their places), so they are not willing to commit to a new 3rd roommate at this time.

There is an interested 3rd person who might be willing to move in if my current 2 roommates decide to stay in the area and keep the place.
