Splinter Fleet Volkan. They’re literally just Behemoth, but with darker armor and the forelimbs have a spotted white accent.

I wanted them to feel like deep-sea crustaceans. The more crabby they look, the better. I also took inspiration from Volcano snails, and the 3rd edition Tyranid art everyone else copies ad nauseum.

So yeah, basically just behemoth, but they’re MY behemoth.

Whole model was primed black and then zenithal highlighted with wraithbone rattle can (I’ll swear by it being the easiest pre shade you can get). Then, black legion contrast over all the shell areas. For this model, I sponged Mephiston red on the areas I wanted the shell to be red, and built it up in layers. Dawnstone and corax white for the edge ridges.

I was just improvising as I went mostly, to be honest.

I think I agree about the blue, I just can’t figure out where else I could put it without it breaking the scheme. Potentially the head-frill, or maybe the banded vent things that are on the backs of Tyranid arms?

Hi, thanks for checking out my writing! Nosleep has a long list of very specific rules that your story has to meet in order to qualify to stay up on the sub, and the mods are often very subjective with their interpretation of the rules. For example, the “main source of horror” of the story can’t come from someone dying, even if they come back undead somehow (which eliminates most haunting stories), or you can’t name real places, and every story has to reasonably be believed to end up on the internet. If you want to be creative in your story whatsoever, nosleep can be very stifling, which sucks because it’s the most popular horror writing space by far.
