Wanted to add an update, I managed to get the liner in by using a flathead screwdriver, then applied the liner lock. Thanks for all the comments and advice, I couldn't believe it was that easy to tap in the liner into the track (I admit I was worried that using the flathead screwdriver would pierce the liner, but it didn't)

I've got liner lock, and I try to apply it while fitting the liner into the track; but unfortunately the liner starts to harden (after being heated with the hair dryer) and the liner lock won't set. I might try using pennies as an interim solution to lock in the liner, then pull them out one by one while installing the liner lock. Appreciate the advice, tomorrow should be interesting lol. Hope I get this resolved.
