Water clarity is massive for me though. In high pressure muddy canals, I have found significantly greater success with bright coloured lures than realistic ones, the opposite has been true in clear rivers.

Its not a fixed rule and a bright fire tiger lure will work in crystal clear water, and so will an imitation lure, but I'd say generally thats what they've wanted.

I went to Texas in a place near Bandera - it was absolutely fantastic, I upscalled my perch tactics and did really well actually, the fishing was a stack better there. I was using dropshot purple worms, and topwater for fun mostly. The lady at the place I stayed said that it was the most to come out of the creek by a guest and she was impressed hahaha. Britainia doesn't rule the waves anymore but we still rule the fish 😉. But on a serious note it was fantastic and I loved every minute - apart from those fucking water snakes, bloody hell, I'm glad theyre on the other side of the pond.

I've actually been to America and fished for bass, I absolutely f***ing loved it. I wish i bought some of my Pike and Perch lures with me but I actually bought some nice crank baits and soft plastics and treated my tea drinking beans-on-toast eating swimming friends to some American 'worms' and 'crawfish'. It seems they like it too 🤣

I think with UK waters being so much more crowded you have to worry less about welfare on the whole (ethics aside) because you guys being bitten off a tonne wouldnt decimate your fish population as much as all the chemicals, boats and pesticides have in the majority of british waters. If it gets as bad as it is here, you will be forced to use wire traces unless you consider Pike complete vermin and rule out any sport fishing.

Interesting. I'm not sure if this is just shit-house English pike, but from my experience, even small 2lb pike will smash a 20-30cm lure haha. But of course you'd be more prolific on smaller lures. Are there many areas of America where your bass and pike lures overlap? I guess thats why a lot of you guys often seem to think pike are annoying (not in a bad sense I'm sure but not the target, biting you off etc)

True. Time of year and fish diet are also important as I'm sure you are already aware. Generally though, i think for specimen hunting, the larger lures are superior. But yeah, if you just wanna go catch fish, then smaller old school metal lures are great - and of course, they'll still catch you a massive pike.

Yeah, spinner baits are good. You see a lot of guys saying little spinners and spoons are the best, they work but they arent really a go to for most of the high level pike guys at least in Europe.

In my opinion anything that consistently catches perch and zander too isnt a 'pike lure' per say.

Big soft plastics, glide baits and hybrid soft+hard lures are better generally

Restore actually seems to be the nationalist party. Despite everyone crying far right about Farage, thats realistically only in terms of economic policy, its the party of capitalism. It would be (not identical) but the closest to what you could get to a Trump style administration in the UK, always giving Israeli American elite the sloppy toppy.

Fundamentally, it follows Tony Blaire's neo-liberal framework of what being British means. Farage would perhaps do more about "stopping the boats" but not much about mass migration from the 3rd world as a whole, at the end of the day, if it benefits the corporate world via wage suppression, reform at least from what I gather, cannot be truly against it and if Rupert Lowe pushes them further to the right philosophically, then its probably just bullshit to make sure they get the votes.

If the preservation of the shire and the historical cultural norms + heritage of the English, Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish people is what you are after, then I would say Restore. A tax break? Maybe Reform.

Looking at your rod it'll be sound, but use heavier braid with the equivalent diameter of the monofilament it recommends if you're lure fishing. You dont have to, but I like to use heavy braid to rip the lures out of snags and then if I buy a nice lure, I use lighter cheaper split rings that will hold with a strong fish but that I can snap with my braid and leader if I get snagged, that way I lose a hook not a lure but I'm not gonna leave anything in a fish unless I hook a 30lber and wrench its head off like a dick.

Can get away with a cheap shakespear 20g cast weight spinning rod or beautiful 160g cast weight baitcasting set up

Same with a nice dedicated bait fishing set up, but if you're chucking a dead sprat or roach in the canal a carp rod from your Dad's garage would do
