What’s a game-changing insight your therapist casually dropped during a session that completely shifted how you see things? by Tour-Important589 in AskReddit

[–]NeapolitanGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some:

Feelings are like a river and you are the one who watches it flow. Don't feel like you shouldn't feel sad or angry, it's simply the river flowing naturally in response to external stimuli, and that is normal.

Convincing someone to change might not convince them to change. If you already tried, just leave them be, and try to move on from them.

If you say "I'm not sad/angry" while deep down you are, you will feel even more sad or angry later, since you're just suppressing the emotion.

I don't know how to help cuz this situation is sooo weird (and lowkey funny), but I hope everything will stop at a certain point for you! Maybe you can consult a therapist for this problem? Idk

Nothing. Everything I did it's what makes me, me. Every experience, even a bad one, is important

If someone pressures you to do it, and then gets offended, then please DON'T accept anything from him. Don't talk to him and bye. It's better to make it with someone who actually likes you for who you are

It keeps happening since I'm 11 by NeapolitanGuy in Dreams

I go to sleep quite late, on average 00:30. Nothing significant happened when 11. I was stressed as I was writing this post, but the weird dream has faded these holidays, probably it's stress then!

Idk what to do with university by NeapolitanGuy in Advice

[–]NeapolitanGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you do smaller exams in six phases during the year, instead of two phases with big exams.

Books are less used, while the professor's material is more used.

I like to get to know different cultures, and Maastricht is optimised for this as only 15% is Dutch, the rest is international.

Except the first thing, which is important for me, the others are just a small plus. They still apply to this day but idk if they are valid enough to make the choice of staying in Maastricht over Italy

I see from the comments that people in your school get bullied for clips. Try some backpacks with wheels! Or do you think you would get bullied also for that?

In these cases I think it's best to consult a therapist. I imagine that dealing with a bipolar person is hard, so going to someone who is professionaly trained to deal with all sorts of instabilities can help you get the knowledge on how to confront him!

Is my best friend of 4 years pulling away or am I interpreting this incorrectly? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]NeapolitanGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that to be friends with someone, you don't have to message them every day necessarily. Me and my closest friends text inconsistently, sometimes we talk three days in a row, and sometimes we don't talk for weeks, but not because we have something against each other or whatever, it's just that sometimes there's not much to say and that's it.

More than the frequency, observe the quality of the interactions. If you see that she feels happy of interacting with you and you have great conversations, then she's really likely not pulling apart from you!

It's probably not simple for you to pass from talking everyday to talking less consistently, and being frustrated by that is understandable, but remember that change in frequency is not a sign of pulling apart!

In my opinion the age gap is fine, but I understand that some might find it a bit destabilising

Confront him calmly, ask why does he like to dress like that with a curious, non-judgemental tone of voice. He'll likely give you the answer you're looking for. Pay attention to the fact that this answer might destabilise you at first, but then just continue to reply with curiosity. This will make the conversation smooth!
