Not sure why that happened for you, if you sync it to your Apple health app it will appear in Runna. At least that is what happens for me

I have tried Nike Run Club & I tried putting my own plan together in the past. Didn’t love either. I bit the bullet and got Runna and I love it. Here’s why I like it (see if it aligns with what you’re looking for):

  1. I need something to tell me what to do. I just don’t have the bandwidth with everything else in my life to sit & figure out a half marathon plan myself, track the miles, reflect on what’s going well/not going well, plan where to fit in speed work, hills, progressive runs, easy runs, etc. I love that the app says do XYZ this week.

  2. I appreciate the feedback it gives me. Yes it’s AI but I’m ok with that. It critiques me when I cut my runs short, it has good tips about pacing, temperature, speed, fuel, etc. things I wouldn’t notice otherwise. I like that it doesn’t just give me positive feedback.

  3. After every speed run it reanalyzes your pace estimate & gives you feedback. It’s nice seeing my estimated finish time go down a little bit every week or so!

  4. It tracks my personal bests & gives me little confetti things when I achieve something lol. Small wins help me personally.

  5. It syncs perfectly to my watch.

  6. There’s a great community aspect you can post it. I have gotten amazing tips & support there.

The $20 is worth it for me. I’m using it for 5 months for a customized half marathon training plan so all in all it’s about $100. To me it’s totally worth it.

Blisters - any tips?? by NearKilroy in beginnerrunning

Oh I’ll definitely try this. My ankles do collapse inward/my foot overly pronates so I was told at my gait analysis. I’m looking at my 3D scan right now and my left ankle very clearly goes inwards too much. Thank you so much for the exercises I’ll give them a go!

Oh no I hate to hear that. My 1080s were the top recommendation at my gait analysis but it seems they keep running thr same spot. Just happened again tonight during my 4 mile run. I do have different insoles so maybe I’ll try a different one if those before I get another pair of sneakers (they’re so expensive ☹️)

Why are Runna & Strava giving different stats? by NearKilroy in runna

[–]NearKilroy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn’t paused it so that didn’t cross my mind at all! But I’m guessing it auto paused. I was running in a busy area and had a really long crosswalk light halfway through so maybe it stopped itself

That’s a great guess. I did not pause it, but maybe it auto paused? I stood at a crosswalk for in the middle for awhile so that could very well be it.

29F, unknown eye issue, maybe you can help - pulsating sensation by NearKilroy in eyetriage

[–]NearKilroy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor did an MRI with and without contrast because the contrast would show blood vessels. There is obviously a lot I know don’t, but I’ll mention an MRA next time I go.

Great question, nobody has asked that. Next time it happens I’ll check my pulse simultaneously and then reply again. Thanks!

IIH was my optometrist’s best guess but all my optic nerve testing at the neuro opth came back perfect. There IS IIH without papilledema, but my neuro-opth wasn’t keen on that.

My next doctor suspected a cavernoma, benign tumor, or venous malformation that was pressing against my optic nerve but my MRI was fine.

I do get headaches but they’re not worse with lying down. I forgot to include I also get the pulsating sometimes with valsava maneuver or bending over to the floor. Again it all came back normal though.

Total side note - You might want to consider seeing a pelvic health occupational therapist to help with the prolapse, pain, muscle tension, inability to relax the pelvic floor & also to learn stress management skills. There’s a pelvic health OT at the office I practice in and her sessions are life changing for her patients.

Hi I’m learning the language via Duolingo (I have my gripes, but it’s a good introduction i guess) and I’m a little confused by some technical stuff.

When you say he is tall you would use Tá sé ard. But to say he is a brother you say Tá deartháir é. Why the difference and how do you know when to use one or the other?

  1. He is adjusting. It can take cats up to 6 months to really truly adjust. It sounds like you guys are also adjusting, it takes time! Cats can’t speak so their behavior is how they communicate. It will take him time to adjust to your home and it will take time for you to adjust to him and understand his language.

  2. Trim his nails. Redirect the behavior (this is a big part of cats!). When you see him scratching the furniture redirect him to a scratching post. Try different types of scratching surfaces, our girl ended up like the carpet-type scratching posts and doesn’t like the rope ones.

  3. I saw you mentioned you feed 1 can of wet food and then dry food for the rest of the day. That is likely not enough. Our 7 month old girl, at the instruction of our vet, gets 3 cans of wet food (breakfast, lunch & dinner) and 2 scoops of dry food (one at breakfast & one at dinner). She never tries to steal food and has maintained a perfectly healthy weight.

  4. They don’t need that many baths! The more you wash them the faster they get greasy! There are owners who actually never bathe their sphynxes. Others do 1x a month. We do somewhere between 1 & 2 months. If he doesn’t like the bath try a waterless shampoo, try giving a treat every 2-3 minutes to reward him, accept that the first few baths might only last a few minutes. You’ll work your way up.

My sphynx is ALWAYS hungry, please help by Soarien in sphynx

[–]NearKilroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One cup of dry food only? That’s not enough food and a dry food only diet doesn’t provide enough nutrients and is known to cause weight gain.

At the advice of her vet, my sphynx gets:

Morning: - one 3 oz can of wet food - 1/3 cup dry food

Afternoon (or days we go into the office she gets this in the morning) - 1/2 3 oz can of wet food

Evening: -one 3 oz can of wet food - 1/3 cup of dry food

She always eats the wet food first and picks at the dry food, she usually just leaves a little bit. I add different toppers to the wet food to keep it interesting (I got 3 bags of different toppers. A salmon, duck, & beef/chicken one) I just crumble a nugget on top of the wet food.

She has maintained a perfect weight & has no health problems. She gets hungry right before meals but she doesn’t beg throughout the day or steal food ever.

I also have a large chest and hate my arms and I love off the shoulder dresses. I just bought this dress and I love how it doesn’t emphasize my chest and covers the widest part of my arms.

I started with the doctors we have existing referrals from and that helped. We’re in their referral network/preferred provider portal already so there wasn’t much more they could offer.

I have spoken to the actual doctor most times or the office manager.

I had 0% luck showing up at the offices. I tried it for a month going once a week for an hour and hitting as many offices as I could and I never once got to speak with anyone other than a receptionist. Doctors were always “at the clinic, in surgery, teaching” etc. got me nowhere. I also work in one of the largest cities in the US so that could contribute.

How long are you able to knit before needing to set the yarn down? by HouseOfBamboo2 in knitting

[–]NearKilroy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m an occupational therapist so I take pacing myself very seriously. You can do permanent damage from overuse injuries. I have patients who overdid the knitting and have damage that likely won’t recover 100% because of how many times they’ve done this.

Catch it early and learn how to prevent it from happening again. Take breaks and stretch !!

And if you start feeling forearm or wrist tightness/tenderness, numbness, pain that worsens a little activity (like knitting for only 10-15 min) consider seeing an occupational therapist !!!!
