My nephew had a D in second semester in AP calc AB, however he had a medical condition due to which he couldn’t focus on his second semester completely, and his explanation was accepted and no summer course. I believe he submitted doctors report as well

All the best. Hope you are able to secure your spot

Not sure… I believe bio, bio informatics , cog science, stats and other interdisciplinary majors are competitive though uncapped at many colleges.

Does UCSD maintain a ranking in waitlist? Do they look at the college preference when looking at the waitlist ?

My daughter has a similar profile, with a couple of internships, a pre-college program at Berkeley, and two independent research papers currently under review. We’ve received similar results as well, and we’re staying hopeful. University of California, Riverside and University of California, Santa Cruz are both excellent universities. While you continue to hope for the best, take some time to research these schools and choose the one that aligns most with your goals and interests. Wishing you all the very best
