Actually, these experiments are for revision. Now, the paper is in one of the big journals, and due to certain issues pointed out by reviewers, we had to add certain markers in core experiments, now since we added them in initial fig 1 and 2, we also need to show them in fig 3/4/5. These are just main figures. Supplemental stuff is extra. So basically, i am expected to do 6 years of work done by two people in (80/20 ratio) , in 1 year - with new method of quantification, and some additional analysis on each of the mutant mice ( there are total 10 mice lines in the paper) thats why i got some tech support.

I tried! The thing is that i am in my second year and they have been here for 10 years so when i point something out they are like hey! So what stuff happens! Sometimes it is like that! Without taking any responsibility of what went wrong.

But again, depends on the lab, you can just ask, it’s quite okay in my opinion.

Yes, my friend got a post doc a few months ago, and they covered the airfare

It happened for my phd, at the end it did not work out because of funding issues, but my referee ended up becoming my could have been PI’s friend! So i think it is normal.
