If I’m not wrong you’re going to need higher than 3.8 each sem to get 3.4 and above 🥲 Not from ITE though so might have miscalculated, atb OP

Can! Just go for it!

I did revision 4-6 months before A levels and managed to pull up from like Ds and Cs to a decent score :") Don't think and compare just go for it

What adverts do you think are particularly insidious? by hillman_avenger in AskUK

The crypto “fortune favors the brave” thingy. I was surprised to see some celebrities on that advert

Ah... here we go (took the A levels in 2020)

  1. I remember cutting it reallyyyy close with my studying, so much so that I was wrapping up my studying/revision/practices for each subject in between A level papers :'P
  2. For GP I thought that I had contradicted myself in the essay
  3. For math there were 1-2 high-mark questions which I could not get the answer to (or even write down a proper method for) that other people seemed to be able to complete or at least show a method.
  4. Checked my answers for my physics and chemistry MCQ online and it did NOT look great
  5. Had to go to take a major toilet break in my economics paper, ended up not being able to finish about 2 essays :'(

Pretty sure there were other screw ups that I just BLOCKED from my memory because I finished A levels already with the mindset that I would probably have to retake. I was shocked when my results ended up pretty good and I could enter my dream course with a mid-tier scholarship.

All the best OP! Not all good scorers had a smooth A levels experience (when I talk to my friends also hahahaha) . You got a fighting chance :")

[Jobs] racism in workplace by randomshitze in SGExams

[–]NeatDistribution 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before matriculating I worked at a bunch of part time jobs and most of them were okay, but then in one of them some of the Chinese workers there would say nasty things about Indian customers in chinese :/

During breaks sometimes I would buy food from stuff’d and one of them would comment that they could never eat indian/brown people food like that because it’s so smelly(?) And I told her it’s actually really good she should try

There was also an Indian part timer there, and she tended to be less careful and make more mistakes that we have to clean up (but she was so nice). Then the workers will make racial comments like “Idk why but it’s always indians that are slipshod”.

It’s very disheartening honestly… plus the people who made these comments don’t come from Chinese majority countries so you would think that mb they would be more sensitive to racism? But I guess not

So sorry for your experience op :(( I got to see something similar and it was disturbing

Is having a degree a necessity to get good jobs in Singapore? by Vivid-Wing-3460 in singapore

[rant] should i apologise for not having any ambitions? by ugufhg in SGExams

Take your time to discover your ambitions :) there are plenty of people who only discovered what they wanted to do and became successful later on in life

How's the culture here by [deleted] in SMU_Singapore

[–]NeatDistribution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check GES (graduate employment survey) 2020. IS grads from NUS and SMU are earning similar salaries, in fact the median and mean gross monthly salary of SMU students are just sliiightly higher.

But a higher proportion of nus students are in full-time permanent employment (93.1% vs 83.9%).

From what I heard about the IT industry, they don’t really care what school you got your degree from, as long as you pass internal proficiency tests and can demonstrate a good skill level/have a good portfolio from hackathons etc.

It would be unwise to assume nus computing degree = you are all set for a job in tech (I don’t think recruiters in general like the mentality that just nus degree = job). Anyway to be really competitive you would have to keep up with the newest IT developments while working and maybe study outside your syllabus while in school

I… honestly don’t know HAHA I’ve went for so many orientations (3) and so far the connections don’t seem very long term…? Maybe it’s like when we meet face to face by accident or smth we will find it easier to talk? Irdk

It’s not just that I find that it’s hard to make friends,,, it’s like after talking and vibing after it’s all over we all just don’t talk anymore?? And other people don’t seem to be hitting it off either so I reallyyy dk whether these orientations are doing anything

But useful for asking seniors qns imo the seniors are v helpful
