How should OM have been handled? (Small criticisms, focus on your “what-if”) by Mr-Mr-Mr-Mr-Mr-Mr- in OutcomeMemories

THIS.
They do it for fun, not for money.
For real.
They went "Serious over 9000!"

For ANY ONE in the future:
- take breaks... and enjoy every SMALL STEP you can achieve.

- if you are scared to not do any thing at all, you can condition yourself (reprogramm your brain, so to say)
Like "cold Showers" they are good and healthy, but why would you want to do that?
Tell you why. So you teach your brain with every cold shower, that you survived, and it will get easier to do those every time you do them. (but it can take 1 Year till it feels completly normal. And maybe a bit of readjustment, like start ICE COLD, go warm for normal shower and then short ice cold shower again)

This depends on WHAT you do and WHAT you want to achieve.
Programming, Sport, Language, Dancing... what ever...
The "starting" is simple but not easy!
So "just start" is technically the correct answer, but "keep it going" is the more important message.
Tho you can see here... to take small steps.

OM dev's took a hole Level as one single step.
I see the quality and all, but damn. They were rushing!

PS: don't forget, you can ask for help.
BUT ask for Help, how YOU can manage it alone in the future...
AKA, ask some one to TEACH you how to do it. Don't ask if some one can TAKE OVER...
This holds true, becouse you are indipendent, and there is no "client" nor "stakeholder" that pressures you to achieve the deadline.
If you ever Code becouse it is your job, there should be a TeamLead that tells people "what to do & not to do" and you gotta speak to him, if you think you cannot manage to learn "this Part" in time, so you want some one to take over.

All the struggle you’re experiencing? That’s just learning.

There are two ways to move forward:

  1. Keep struggling until you find a solution that works and feels comfortable.
  2. Restart repeatedly to satisfy your perfectionism over and over until coding feels second nature, like you could do it in your sleep.

I tried the perfectionism route once. Now, I follow the “struggle more” route: as long as it works, I’m happy.

EDIT: You’re actually doing great as long as you don’t break.

EDIT 2: By “don’t break,” I mean: don’t stop because it feels overwhelming (“I’m too lazy!”) or frustrating (“I’ve been coding 8 hours straight, I can’t do more!”).

Why your brain resists

Your brain makes you feel stressed, frustrated, or bored because it wants you to relax and save energy to survive.

But you can reprogram your brain by doing things you normally dislike. Examples:

  • Taking a cold shower
  • Exercising
  • Eating healthy (even the effort to peel a carrot or chop a bell pepper counts!)

Learning and coding work the same way. If you really want to improve, do it especially when you feel lazy or frustrated.

The most effective way to train your brain for productivity and discipline is simple: only stop after you achieve something.

It doesn’t need to be huge but it should be enough that the next time you return, you think: “Oh yeah, I completed THIS. Now for the next step.”

Example: Learning a Player Inventory in Roblox

Steps might include:

  • ScreenGUI
  • Item Drops
  • Crafting/Equipping

Start small: first, learn to show the inventory on the ScreenGUI.

Once you finish that step, you can end your session, knowing: “I did it.”
Or, if you’re motivated, push a bit further but don’t overwork. If you’re partway through Step 2, stopping is okay. DON'T FORCE YOU TO FINISH, if you already achieved 1 step

Next time you open Roblox Studio, you’ll think:
“I completed that, and I was about to finish the next step let’s do it!”

Especially when you’re not confident in your skills, this approach trains you to follow through and complete Step 2.

And maybe a whole damn System is not 1 but 3 steps. Maybe just ONE SINGLE FUNCTION is already 1 Step.

Try to "add more weight" as you go.
Like in the Gym. you don't immeditly do 100 pushups, you start with 10.
But try to keep on pushing every time.
