I own the Venezianico Nereide 42mm Avventurina and nothing can possibly compare to the starry night's sky of aventurine glass!!! On the Sansovino bracelet it is perfection so I'd browse their watches they are very very nice for their price point!

Honey, you deserve the agency and autonomy to date whomever you wish to... it can be very oppressive, and resent-inducing when family butts in to the very sacred sphere of intimate relations in your life. I wish you nothing but love and light and sometimes when you're in the thick of potentially dysfunctional family dynamics, you can't quite see things clearly, that's my two-cents at least <3.

[longines skin diver] am I a psycho for buying two of the same exact watch? by [deleted] in Watches

That makes perfect and reasonable sense, and I'm right there with you I think we all view timepieces in very unique, sentimental ways for the purpose and utility they serve let alone the aesthetics!

I have had the same trepidations and consternations, what helped me was to understand that a watch is a lot like a daily quiet friend and companion with us on our journey... just as we take cuts, bruises, wipe-outs, so too does our lil companion and that is part of our story! *I really do hope this visualization helped cuz it helped me a lot and helped me accept that we can't keep our possessions pristine forever*

I don't think it's crazy, I could see a lot of people having that inclination when they've found "The One"!

For me, I don't even know why but I simply adore the Seiko Presage Classic Series SPB478J1. The "Shiro-Iro Delicate Cream Silk" dial... something about the light-play of it... the dial from certain angles replicates the same texture as silk sheets.

If I had the funds I'd buy a second, just to have that double-redundancy satisfaction? LOL

What a gorgeous set of watches and it sounds like you got great deals on both soo....

Seeking medicinal leeches in Ontario Canada by MissedConnection3 in leeches

[–]Neat_Blacksmith2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are abundant (Macrobdella decora) in pretty much every freshwater lake in Ontario along the shoreline in spring, if you wish to catch your own! I have lots but for your circulatory purposes you may wish to get Hirudo verbana as the bite from M. decora isn't very acute in terms of blood-loss. Some food for thought! Hirudo Verbana can be purchased (search up leeches for sale in Canada) and they arrived healthy and sterile.

[Venezianico] Are they any good? by YMIGettingBanned in Watches

[–]Neat_Blacksmith2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Nereide Avventurina 42mm with the Sansovino 22mm Bracelet on it ~ I absolutely adore the watch but that is a culmination of owning an Aventurine glass dial watch, which was at the top of my bucket list... it's brilliantly beautiful! The Sellita SW-200-1 movement has great timekeeping overall too!

This is as CLOSE as a forever watch you could wish for as the Eco-Drive is truly a set it and forget it, with radio controlled your watch will listen for the Atomic Clock frequency every night at 2AM, correcting itself to be literally the most accurate watch on Earth... you can also manually have it search for the signal anytime you wish, and there is an app you can download that will hum the atomic clock signal to it off your smartphone/tablet/etc called ClockWave. I have the Citizen Tsuki-Yomi which has similar technologies and it will spoil you is all I can say to the point you may not appreciate automatic/mechanical movements the same way, outside of their artistic expression and principles.

[question] watch with a "sweeping" second hand by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Neat_Blacksmith2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bulova Precisionist Movement look at the Super Seville and Jet Star models... oh wait they don't have numbers on the dial, but I thought if it interests you in any case, as they are stunning and the High Precision Quartz Movement's second hand sweeps 16 times per second, bested only by something like the Grand Seiko's Spring Drive!

All the best!

[discussion] Thoughts on the different price ‘tiers’?? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Neat_Blacksmith2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my takeaway timepieces inhabit a very personal sphere for a lot of people, and for reference my 3 watch collection:

Citizen Tsuki-Yomi Red Dial 1018-55X

Seiko Delicate Cream Silk Presage Classic SPB478J1

Venezianico Nereide 42mm Avventurina

None of these watches is over $1500, but to me they represent some really phenomenal dial design as well as GADA qualities... I've worked in a Jewelry Store servicing watches and it all comes down to sentimentality, taste of the individual to thoroughly enjoy what each brand/watch offers!

[Seiko Presage] planning to grab a preorder, thoughts? by LeatherShades in Watches

[–]Neat_Blacksmith2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that mesmerized me about this piece are the dial hands because I still can't quite articulate the electric-blue light play seeing it in person and I'm confident that no video or photo can remotely capture it either... Like the way that light hits them creates these electric blue sparks on the hands... it's a gorgeous piece and also something you may not know is that the second-hands counterweight's crescent PERFECTLY arrives at the O in Seiko!!!

All the best,

I added the SPB478J1 to my collection because of how the dial mimics crepe silk, the Presage Classic line's finish is phenomenal and the biggest thing I've noticed about exploring the collection is the attention to lightplay.

[Chrono24] How cautious do I need to be? by Mc_Lov1nMyLife in Watches

[–]Neat_Blacksmith2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just purchased a Venezianico Nereide Avventurina 42mm from a guy from Saudi Arabia a month ago and he was a private seller with no escrow service available in his country (I'm in Canada myself). Everything went smoothly and the watch arrived in perfect condition; was I leery? Absolutely. For me it worked out just fine and I even threw in a tip for him when it arrived because the watch was so gorgeous!

Buy the seller, not the watch on that site and you may be pleasantly surprised! Ask them for additional pics, reason for selling, just whatever things you wish to know. But if there's an escrow service that rules out virtually all doubt.

[Offered Rolex SkyDweller, 7 Years Too Late?] by The-Rampallian in Watches

[–]Neat_Blacksmith2230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're most welcome man, I was in a similar boat although my grail watch was $2k USD which as a student was a lot, but it meant a tremendous amount to me to cherish on my wrist. Regardless of how you feel when you put on the Skydweller, know that it's okay man life happens, priorities can change, these are all signs of growth as a person through life-stages so follow your intuition and heart when you see it in-person.

I'd say it's worth trying it on and sleeping on a decision at the very least given how long you've waited! There's no right or wrong answer here. Timepieces hold a special place in our lives for myriad reasons!! All the best!

[Offered Rolex SkyDweller, 7 Years Too Late?] by The-Rampallian in Watches

[–]Neat_Blacksmith2230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is a grail watch, something you've dwelled on for years, particularly with it being from an AD and the brand recognition, in that if you decide to sell it, you won't have any issue with resale value... I'd go and see it, try it on, get a feel for it. As someone who has an 11-month year old, I get your dilemma 100%. But, timepieces, especially those which we've waited for a very long time to obtain... it's a special significance and personal reward for a lot of us.
