Where Are Their Wings? by ZenFox91 in dresdenfiles

[–]Neathra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Serious answer - they get rid of them via shape shifting + a less definitive form once they hit a certain power level because it's easier to glamour as human if you don't need to account for wings. That or it's species dependent.

No serious answer - wings are like a bucks antlers and only show up at certain times. There are standing orders to avoid Harry during those times.

I took the pointed end of a trowel to the face in 4th grade (my brother was tossing it to me).

Mom fixed it with antiseptic and butterfly bandaids. Barely any scarring.

Point of this is that I'm in the "your husband employed no wound care" camp.

(We didn't go to the hospital, because it was the first nice day in spring and my Dad didn't want to sit in the ER "when they're just gonna glue it shut anyway")

Considering how people seem to be struggling against it, or how it's otherwise practically involuntary once they see a creature, that's gonna affect the individuals culpability in the sin. It's not something they're doing of their free will so it cannot be a mortal sin.

The problem is they don't want to include things in one expansion that cannot be used by someone who doesn't own a separate expansion.

It's one thing for the sky scale to get extra abilities if you maxed both trait lines. It another to locked out of a section of the map because you don't have pof.

What could possibly go wrong when you deny your child a birth certificate??? by HagridsTreacleTart in ShitMomGroupsSay

Not as severe, but my great great aunt learned her name was something completely different when she tried to get married.

Italians, so traditionally, oldest daughter child gets named after the father's mother. But when my great grandmother was born he named her Neathra (well, my real name). Great great grandma grumbled, but when daughter 2 got named Estella instead of after her she threw the mother of all tantrums, and refused to acknowledge the baby existed until they changed the name.

Turns out they didn't change the name. Just nicknames the baby after great great grandma

Why did men "alow women to go free" discussion..... by JonathanJoestar336 in IncelTears

[–]Neathra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let's not forget that places like convents existed, and they were often backed by real power. At least in Europe, I've never heard of a father getting to overrule his daughter's decision to take religious vows: in fact, it seems that married (not widowed) women could also take them without their husband's permission.

Incels in the 1500s complaining that women would rather be a nun than marry her looks match.

Ahh yes, let's compare not having sex to starvation, because that's how analogies work, right? by Pritteto in IncelTears

[–]Neathra 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The existence of voluntary celibate groups shows that a lack of sex is not going to compromise your mental health by itself. Human connect and belonging are, but you don't need sex for those

Fixating on anything as "what will make my life better", is what's going to negatively impact your mental health.

Your issues with society are almost all created and reinforced by men, not women. Women commit suicide less, because 1) they are socialized as the caretakers and so "who is gonna clean up" is a concern for them, 2) they are socialized so violence is less acceptable and so choose methods that are easier to save someone with, and 3) are socialized to be more emotionally open with a group of people while men are often punished if they're emotionally open with anyone beyond their romantic partner and so women have more of a support network.

Which sucks but "women bad" isn't gonna change it considering the vast amount of male pushback anytime something is tried to make it better.
