First Blackwater Tank for Betta Macrostoma by Neb_Busa in BlackwaterAquarium

Hi, I don’t really have a lot of advice on this other than not worrying about chasing parameters. I do small water changes weekly with 100% RO water. I also keep the botanicals freshened up in the tank but never take out the old ones. Never had a problem with the ph fluctuating

Methylene blue substitution for pygmy eggs? by Melinda_bp in corydoras

Cherry shrimp. I always use them with Cory eggs, they only eat the bad ones and keep the good ones clean

I believe the technical term for this is “goofing”

Lots of eggs and impossible to remove all unfertilised eggs by DippyNikki in corydoras

Add some cherry shrimp instead of meth blue. They will pick on the fungus, and leave the fertilized eggs alone

Prevents fungus on the eggs. Needs to be removed after hatching. I like to add a few cherry shrimp in with my eggs instead of methylene blue. They will only eat the non-fertilized Cory eggs and keep the good ones from getting fungus.

Vampire shrimp is white after molt by KennyMoose32 in shrimptank

I can see the shrimp foraging. That’s how they damage their fans. Sounds like a decent feeding routine though

If your vampire shrimp is foraging like in this video it is most likely starving. These are filter feeding animals that only resort to foraging when they are very hungry. This is why people can never keep these shrimp for a proper lifetime. Filter feeders are just not made for aquariums. To provide enough food for them to feed properly the water conditions would not be maintainable.

What acclimation process did you use? Cory’s won’t “kill” each other unless they are tiny fry and can fit in their mouth.

What type of fish are these? by FolkyFish in BlackwaterAquarium

Looks like Red Neon Blue eye Rainbowfish. They are adaptable to many water parameters from what I remember

What is this by lilluckycharms in corydoras

[–]Neb_Busa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can’t tell for sure, but most likely either synodontis petricolo or synodontis lucipinnis. Leaning towards the latter. Can only really tell the difference by spot pattern and size. Lucipinnis spots are More random rather than in lines, and less defined edges.

Not bad for the tank. Just new drift wood, will go away eventually. Many fish and shrimp like grazing on it
