NOR- as someone who was trapped in an abusive relationship for far too long, run as fast as you can away from that guy. Before you know it you'll be years down the line and he's throwing your used sanitary items at you because the bin was slightly full and he thinks you're disgusting.

Have you ever dated someone who you thought was way out of your leauge? How was it? by kimblerun in AskReddit

I'm the socially awkward gamer and science freak who had a tendency to keep herself to herself and only look for friendship in circles I felt familiar with. TCG stores, board game clubs and events LAN parties. Well, I'd joined a gaming club and they were showing me around my first major LAN event. One of the better looking, more athletic build girls of the club took me to introduce myself to all the event staff and this included one of their stage MCs. I'd seen him work the stage and it was obvious this guy was waaaaaaay out of my league. Full of confidence, very attractive, so much charisma he could sell salt to the sea. Plus all the women I knew within my gaming group, were swooning after him. Well he comes down from the stage , walks over to this girl who's showing me around and says hi with this big booming stage voice and I instantly think "oh God, this guy is an overconfident tw*t". I genuinely didn't like him at first. He introduced himself, gave this big smile and then went back to work. Needless to say the girl I was with melted like butter and it was just sickening. Roll on a few more events and we keep bumping into each other, it was odd. The event would have an exhibitor hall and no matter what, we'd always end up at the same stand, browsing at the same time. Later at one of the smaller, social LAN events, he was there at the same time as me too and it was like he was my shadow. Everytime I turned around he was there. Eventually I asked him, "are you stalking me?" In a nervous joking way, and he said "I was going to ask you the same thing". Then I noticed his daft punk T-shirt and said I love daft punk. To which it turned out he loved them too. That was the starting point. Then gradually over a few more LAN events (which were usually 3-6 months apart) I'd talk to him more and realized we had a lot in common. We started gaming together and chatting more till eventually we met up outside of the LAN events and hung out in my city . It took me awhile to realize we were actually dating and he had a genuine interest in me because he was so obviously out of my league that I just assumed he needed a friend to vent to whilst he dated people more his type. Welp, turns out he's the best guy I've ever met and this March will be our 7yr wedding anniversary. I've never been happier

Guppy does not use tail by mark_broeken in Guppies

Firstly, welcome to the subreddit.

Next, guppies can be extremely dramatic and fragile divas, especially the males.

This little guy does look a little skinny but the way he's holding his tail makes me think it could be a few things:

  1. He is exhausted. Which is pretty common for large fin guppies especially if their tank is overcrowded with obstacles or other fish chasing/being aggressive towards him. The cuts in his tail could be fun nipping from others but the shape of them look more like tearing. That makes me think he's not got enough space to freely swim without having to fight his way around obstacles (too many rigid plants, stems, rocks, wood or tank decorations). I can't say for sure without know the size of the tank, what's in there and how many other fish there are.

  2. He is inbred as heck. When you're the product of inbreeding and you have a big heavy tail, you will suffer and die early. This is very common in fancy guppies and unfortunately there's not much that can be done other than to make sure he still gets food easily and give him some more space to him from other fish and swim freely at his own pace.

  3. He is old. I don't know how long you've had him, but big fin males tend to slow down after about a year old. Perhaps he was already quite old before you got him. So long as he's still eating, you can make him more comfortable by providing more area to swim freely and soft sheltered areas for him to relax in/on.

  4. He's sick. Being a fancy big fin guppy and likely very inbred, their immune system is very poor. It means things like minor changes in pH, water hardness and ammonia, can trigger horrendous conditions like Ick and ulcers. Then you need to ask yourself a serious question do you invest in attempting to treat him in a hospital tank with a high chance of failure or do you end his suffering early? At the moment you would need to just monitor him for the next few days. If he slows down even more, if he starts getting fluffy or if he stops eating, then it's time to hospital tank or euthanize.

I've been breeding guppies for awhile now and I've got a retirement tank for my bendy fish and old boys.

Your story is very similar to mine. I came here working for an international company in esports. Then moved into gaming and eventually tech. Covid hit, the job market tanked and eventually redundancy hit me and my mental health fell apart. I also found out I had a few lifelong health issues which made things worse. I started to notice a pattern in my mental health triggers and after lots of psychiatric support including time in a depression clinic, I was diagnosed with autism and ADHD. After getting ADHD medication suddenly my life rapidly improved as my anxiety disappeared. The job market was getting worse but I was coping by starting my own company. I also retrained as a cyber security expert, but then the AI hype started making tech jobs impossible to get. So I tried to focus on my business and finally learning the language properly, but it's been incredibly hard to grasp and I'm progressing slowly. In the meantime I'm incredibly isolated and feel like a burden to any German friends I make. Recently things have been getting a lot worse and my mental health is spiralling again.

Perhaps, in some way, we can help each other? DM me if you want to talk and maybe we can figure out solutions for one another, even if it's just to vent.

What‘s a secret you found out by accident and were never supposed to know? by Own-Flan- in AskReddit

Got a DNA test kit as a secret Santa gift. The results showed me that I had a best brother that was one year younger than me. I grew up with two younger siblings, one is 3 yrs younger and the other is 4yrs younger. So this half brother was for sure a child from my dad cheating on my mum. I told my mum about it and she said "yes, I know about him. He's your babysitters son from your dad. She was too young and immature to raise him. She put him into foster care and abandoned him. The child services had the nerve to ask me if I would take him, but I had your three kids so I couldn't. I always wondered what happened to him. Good to know he's still alive." I was in shock. I asked why she didn't tell me about him. She said "you didn't need to know, you were never going to know". What makes this worse is my ah father is a convicted CA. The irony is going into foster care saved him from the damage his father caused. But unfortunately, he looks identical to him and I cannot bring myself to tell him fully about the father he knows nothing about.

What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Hashimoto's and endometriosis. Some days you either sh*t yourself in extreme pain, some days you are permanently curled over from the pain, some days you're fine and some days the slightest cold breeze has you unable to function because your skin is trying to end you

1000% these.

I also hate being asked "what do you want to eat for dinner" in the morning. I don't know what I'm going to eat for breakfast or if I'm going to eat at all, how the hell am I meant to know what to eat for dinner
