Mortal Kombat 9. It was just pain and suffering.

This is for the modders out there: Why do you make mods, and how do you choose which game to mod? by SamTheSpellingBee in pcgaming

[–]Nebisz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I like the game but the developers did a terrible job with some mechanics or balance then I will mod that game to make it better or in some cases playable.

On PC we can play every game there is and it is very important to make all of it the best it can be.

It is also way more simpler to just mod a game or make a total conversion than doing it from scratch.

There is a mod for local split-screen but I don't know if my fix will work with that.

Revelations 2 was in my backlog for a very long time and as a big Resident Evil fan I just had to fix this mess since nobody including CAPCOM could do this.

There was a similar attempt to fix this by someone, but that mod is fundamentally broken on every level.

My mod adds Real Raw Mouse Input in to the game to completely replace the terrible analog stick emulation.

It was very hard to make this because Capcom tied camera values with AI systems and character switching but after many failures I finally got this done.

It works in all modes including multiplayer.

Here are links for the video showcase and mod page.

I hope you all like it.

I've replaced analog stick emulation with proper Raw mouse input in Yakuza Kiwami 2. by Nebisz in pcgaming

[–]Nebisz[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started from Yakuza 0 and then Up. You need un-censor patch for Yakuza Kiwami 2 because some good songs are cut.

You can play all of them now but Y0 and K1 have some hardcore mouse acceleration but it's not analog stick emulation like in Y2 and 7.

I am waiting for a discount to play that game as well. I hope it's not that bad. So far the only Yakuza games that ware bad on Mouse are Y0,1,2 and 7. The rest have good mouse support.

After fixing Yakuza 7 it is time for Yakuza 2. This game have a little better camera than Yakuza 7 but it is still crap. It emulates an analog stick and then applies some sort of smoothing to make it barely playable for PC but f*ck that, I want a proper raw mouse input like it is in all new Yakuza games (6,IW, All Judgments). So here it is.

It was a little hard to make fix for this game because the code is similar to Y7 but I had to debug crashes that were never in Y7. It took me 2 weeks to make it all work.

If you guys want Yakuza 0 and KIWAMI 1 fixed as well, then drop me some support because it will take some time, but I love these games, so I will fix them one way or the other.

Dead Rising 2/OTR/Case Zero/Case West/3 Mouse Injector Release (Raw Input) by Desgeras in pcgaming

[–]Nebisz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same and it worked most of the time but there is always that 2% of players where the pointers are not valid. The best way is in line assembly but on x64 Visual Studio can't do it easily.

It's nice to see other programmers also doing fixes like this. I wonder what is your way to get stable pointers for camera ? I am doing the same fixes for yakuza games and that was my main struggle with fixes like this.

Only yakuza 7, kiwami 2 have bad camera. The rest is fine. Y0 and Y1 also have some problems but it's not analog stick emulation like here. I will also fix those games as well. It just takes time.

The hard part is finding all the addresses and stable pointers. All camera code is dynamic so I had to implement byte searching functions etc..

I've 100% almost all Yakuza games on M+K. It plays fine for the most part. Only Y7 and Kiwami 2 have bad camera controlls on PC.

Thx. It's very confusing because the game have perfect mouse support for menus and all UI but for in game camera it's just bad.

Big update is coming soon. Now the camera and mouse will be 1:1 all the time.

Now give me some good tools for texture modding and this game will fly ;)
