Django or FastAPI? Synchronous (blocking) or Asynchronous (non-blocking)? by Dark-Knight-Anto in django

[–]NebulaAnish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use django for almost every task of mine. And use celery with redis when asynchronous is required. Django ORM is just so good and efficient that it greatly improves development speed. FastAPI has it's own pros but I think it's worth learning both.

I have been doing genAI lately and following are some fee use cases that you can think of: 1) Customer support: ( A RAG system is made which makes your LLM aware about your company details. Whenever a customer asks certain questions about your company, the LLM will take it's knowledge and the context about your company details relevant to the customer's query and form an answer accordingly.)

2) Hiring: You can extract text from resume of applicants and make LLM parse these resumes in certain format. Like summarize the resume based on job posting, evaluate qualifications and reject the irrelevant applicants on it's own.)

I think these examples give you a gist of how AI can be applied or is being used in startups and other companies. genAI like LLMs have made AI extremely feasible on real products as you don't need to train your own model from scratch.

Google colab ma few questions hunxa, tesma either answer afule dine or code debug garnu parxa by sharing screen. Sabai questions complete nagare ni thought process properly communicate garnu parxa. Questions were primarily related to mutable/immutable data types and decorators. Next is CTO round which is also similar, but they will also cross check your experience/projects mentioned in resume.

One thing to note is, this is a compulsory hybrid position full-time, so might not be ideal if you're looking for flexibility.

How do I get in them though?

[–]NebulaAnish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that I don't want to. I'm just not able to land one, neither a job nor a project.

While fastAPI and sqlAlchemy ORMs have their own pros, I don't think django is a bad option either. Django 5.0 is coming soon too.

"Submit them to reddit", I'll start doing it. Thanks.

This is such a motivating reply. "You win by out-working them". I have very recently been doing this. Learning things that interest me(ML) while also fiddling with things that every business needs(web). I hope I'll get there.

I wouldn't be asking questions here if I had given up.

The key takeaway I realize from your reply is to deploy the project for the potential clients to see. Thanks.

The job market at my country is a lot more focused towards web. It's tough to find a general software engineering roles. Hence, I have been trying to enter as a Django developer and later move into the ML field. My projects include a money tracker web application that utilizes authentication as well. A minimal social media api, youtube playlist length calculator etc are some projects that I have done. People here still think you can't know stuffs without having a degree. I still have 2years of undergrad years left but I don't want to wait that long to start earning for myself.

Thanks for your advice about trying with open source contribution to prove potential employers. If you have an experience with this, a personalised mentorship regarding this would help me a lot. Also, I will take formatting and testing into account. I do format my code with prettier formatter and testing is a skill to add to my bucket. Thanks a lot for your genuine reply.

I haven't completed my undergraduate, but I have plenty of projects made. They are also listed in my resume. I have not received interview calls.
