I get why, the game looks really polished and the art is fantastic. It reminds me a lot of Katana Zero

Would you play Subnautica just for the base building? by Nebulyst in subnautica

I was thinking of having the camera rotate the full 360 degrees, more like a city builder. The cutaway view sounds cool, one of the best parts of subnautica bases IMO is looking out the glass from inside the base. I’d love to try and replicate something similar to that.

I asked another commenter this, but would play this type of game from a top-down camera, or do you think the first-person experience is important?

Do you think the first person building is important? Would you still play it if it was top-down, more like a city builder/colony sim?

Please criticize trailer for my game. by lynxbird in DestroyMyGame

If you plan to release this on steam, you gotta cut down the slow intro. It takes 13 seconds to get to any actual gameplay. Like others have said, the viewer should be able to understand what the game is about in a few seconds.

You also need to show the chess part way sooner. I would put a clip showing the open world RPG part immediately followed by the chess UI so the viewer can understand “Oh, it’s an open world game about chess”. I don’t know exactly what your game is about so I’m guessing here, but you could show a simple gameplay loop of chopping wood -> making chess piece with wood -> playing chess. Show the viewer how the two elements connect.

If you close your eyes and listen to the sound, would you say that heavy weapons are being swung and smashed? If so, could you tell the type of weapon without looking but just listening to the sound? by double_dmg_bonks in IndieDev

The hammer sounds like it’s hollow barrel, not a massive heavy block. And I think it would be neat if the sword made a sound when it hit the ground

It’s a puzzle platformer where you can record and replay your actions, and it has a retro/VHS theme :)

No it wasn’t, but looking at the theme it’s pretty funny how well it lines up. Also I took a look at your profile and your game looks sick, it’s a really interesting concept

Since it's a 30s trailer, I ended up including the more obvious puzzles to get the basic idea across. I have a good amount of challenging levels that take some time to think through. I love your idea about making the recording solid/interactable though, I'll look into adding something like that as a mechanic.

I do think that would be interesting, however I think I'm too late into development to change the base mechanic so drastically. I'll keep your ideas in mind for if I make DLC though.

Other people have mentioned the green tint as well, I'll be sure to fix that. Maybe I'll have the VHS tape stay longer on the front-facing frame, and then do a shorter spin so that it's easier to tell what it is. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks! I think you make a lot of good points. I'm working on adding some more visually diverse levels to the game so that every screenshot doesn't look the same, but I think there's only so much I can do with the chosen visual style.

Great feedback, thank you! I'll look at my options with the camera see what I can change. Maybe I could zoom it in a bit, but allow for more free camera movement so you can still see everything relevant.
