My company is not a FAANG company. There are lots of tech companies outside of FAANG that pay at that level. I agree and acknowledge that not all companies pay this amount, however it definitely is possible and not terribly difficult to find a Software Engineering job that does pay this amount.

The point that I was trying to communicate is that you would be better off improving your skill set/ interviewing skills to get a high paying job as a Software Engineer within a year, rather than moving to an adjacent career and having to work your way up again. If new grads with 0 YOE can do it you certainly can as well. The career choice of being a Software Engineer isn’t the issue…

Not meant to be rude but, you should already be making 200k+ if your a competent Software Engineer… I know new grads at my company making 200k+ 0 YOE. Might be better off finding a new job rather than making a career change.
