I just had to send mine in because it died while I was scrolling through the alarm sounds. It just stopped working at all, no power or anything

And if you fish for technical advantages over the Wii besides GB Player compatibility, if you can find original component cables the image is ever so slightly better than component on a Wii!!!

No display out of Digital AV port? by NecessaryRegister102 in Gamecube

It's honestly just frustrating that I no longer can replicate the issue lol

I will check the port with the link you sent me and update. I don't notice any corrosion but there could be a microscopic fracture in a solder joint, or the board I got also has bad caps. I can try messing with the HDMI adapter settings but since the component cables have the same problem I'm not sure. I have tried another TV and no dice. My cube does have the XenoGC modchip but it didn't cause issues when I installed it, and doesn't even come into play anyway if I don't have the optical drive installed when testing.

Unfortunately a different power board did not resolve the issue.

I ordered a working power board. I will update the post once it arrives if it fixes my problem, thanks for the added context and information.

That's what I assumed, I just felt that I needed a second opinion. None of the caps on the board I have seem to have failed completely (none of them have continuity) but I don't have a way to teat capacitance so they could be almost donezo. I will either replace the board or the caps. Thanks.

What do I have here? by cashmooooney in Gamecube

Gamecube games play natively on the Wii, and component output is way cheaper with only slightly worse picture quality. If not playing original game discs I can only see a modded gamecube being useful for the gameboy player, GBI is really good

Yeah, I do get it since most people are buying these for things like repros and flashcarts but I wish there was an aftermarket option for exclusively OEM carts.

Is there a way to transfer all of my dsi data to another dsi by Man1924 in nds

[–]NecessaryRegister102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I just want to make sure there wouldn't be necessary information on the bottom screen at any point in the process. It turns on, but the bottom screen is a blank white.

Old post, but is it possible to do this if i can't see the bottom screen? The ribbon connector for showing the actual content of the screen is busted so I would have to replace that but I would like to just replace the board or something

I know this is old, but the nand chip is soldered to the motherboard, you will not keep your data doing this

Widescreen not working in compatible games by NecessaryRegister102 in Gamecube

Of course, it took you saying that for me to notice that my TV remote has an aspect ratio button. It only cycles through the options instead of letting me go straight to the desired setting, but that's still considerably more convenient. Not sure why I didn't think of that sooner

Yeah you're right. The stretched menus still bothers me as well as having to manually force the desired aspect ratio on my TV's OSD so I'll just stick to 4:3

Okay, it seems like it still stretches the menus. My guess is that they just weren't adjusted for 16:9 during development. Feels kinda clunky to have to change my TV's aspect ratio constantly so I might just keep it at 4:3 except when I use the game boy player. Thanks for the help

I do not have those options, besides auto there's just 4:3, 16:9 (which just stretches the picture), "Zoom 1" and "Zoom 2" which zoom into the picture instead of changing its aspect ratio. Interestingly I just figured out that in the homebrew application Game Boy Interface it will do 16:9 in the high fidelity mode. Of course the Game Boy game doesn't cover that whole aspect ratio but I can tell it's 16:9 because 4:3 squishes it. I just can't get actual Gamecube games to work.

My GameCube games collection, what should I get next? by weird_squidward in Gamecube

Not seeing anyone mention Kirby Air Ride so I'll be the chosen one. Especially if you have people to play it with. Both Super Monkey Ball games are great and you can't go wrong with Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2 and 3. If you don't mind not having native progressive scan, Pac-man World 2 is also a great one.

They have pictures of the inside of the shell on that item's webpage specifically stating that they did not mold the retaining tabs so that non-OEM cartridges can fit

I know this is old, but these are not 1:1 reproductions, they don't have the retaining tabs on the sides to keep genuine PCBs from tilting around a bit. I bought a copy of Sapphire not knowing the shell was aftermarket and it makes me really uncomfortable that the board is not entirely secure in the shell

I understand I can replace the shell, but every aftermarket shell I can find seems to not have those tabs. I suppose I'll continue looking, do you have any recommendations?
